The CW renewed seven out of its 19 scripted original series, including Arrowverse shows The Flash and Superman & Lois.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, seven shows are returning for the 2022-2023 broadcast season on The CW, including All American for Season 5, The Flash for Season 9, Kung Fu for Season 3, Nancy Drew for Season 4, Riverdale for Season 7, Superman & Lois for Season 3 and Walker for Season 3.

"As we prepare for the 2022-23 season, these scripted series, along with the alternative series we renewed earlier, will serve as the start of a solid foundation utilizing some of our most-watched series for us to build on for next year and beyond," said CEO of The CW Television Network Mark Pedowitz. "These dramas are also important to our overall digital strategy, as they are some of our most-streamed and socially-engaged programming, and we look forward to adding more new and returning series to help strengthen and expand our multiplatform footprint."

While these seven shows have received early renewals for additional seasons, that still leaves Batwoman, Charmed, Dynasty, In the Dark, Legacies, Legends of Tomorrow, Roswell, Stargirl and four shows still in their first season, including All American: Homecoming, The 4400, Naomi and Tom Swift.

The Flash was expected to return for a ninth season, after reports from January 2022 stating that its star Grant Gustin was in talks to sign on for an additional 15 episodes. This would make The Flash the longest-running Arrowverse series on The CW after Arrow, which ran for eight seasons. As for the Jared Padalecki-led Walker, the series has already spawned an upcoming prequel series titled Walker: Independence, which recently cast Arrow star Kat McNamara in the lead role. Independence officially received a pilot order at The CW in February 2022, with Padalecki attached to executive produce.

Riverdale is currently airing its sixth season. In December 2021, star Lili Reinhart discussed the possibility of additional seasons for the Archie Comics-based drama and stated that Season 7 "will probably be the last one." However, this has not been confirmed by The CW.

It was announced in January 2022 that WarnerMedia and ViacomCBS were in discussions to sell The CW, with Nexstar Media Group said to be the frontrunner. Of the seven shows that received early renewals, four are produced by Warner Bros. Television (The Flash, Superman & Lois, and Kung Fu), while two are produced by CBS Studios (Nancy Drew and Walker). However, Riverdale is produced by both Warner Bros. TV and CBS Studios.
