Recently, The CW unveiled its planned premiere dates for the 2020-2021 television season, with the revelation that much of the network's original programming was slated to premiere in January.
Despite the three-to-four-month delay in premiere dates, The CW President Mark Pedowitz still plans to move forward with full-season orders for many of its shows, while new series originally slated for midseason premieres will still proceed with 13-episode orders as the network continues to acclimate productions under the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
"We are planning our normal episodic counts," Pedowitz said in an interview with TVLine. "We have some shows that’ll have 22 or 20 [episodes], we’ll have some shows at 13. We plan to continue [with that goal in mind], and we’ll see how the world progresses."
While the Arrowverse shows and Riverdale are headed for January premieres, fall will see the long-awaited airing of the final episodes of Supernatural, which temporarily suspended production of its final season due to the global health crisis. Similarly, Swamp Thing, which had its broadcast rights acquired by the network from DC Universe, will air its 10-episode sole season during the fall programming schedule.
