The CW is moving forward with its television adaptation of the cult classic horror film The Lost Boys with a familiar face as its lead.

Tyler Posey has been cast to star the pilot episode as Michael, one of two brothers who moves to Santa Carla after the sudden death of his father. Upon his arrival, the brothers discover that the small Southern California town is actually the home of hard-partying vampires.

Posey is no stranger to fan-favorite 80s horror movies, after previously starring in MTV's popular Teen Wolf series. He is joined in The Lost Boys pilot by Kiele Sanchez (Kingdom) as his mother Lucy, Medalion Rahimi (NCIS: Los Angeles) as Michael's primary love interest Stella and Dakota Shapiro (Valley of the Boom) as Stella's vampire boyfriend David.

An adaptation of Joel Schumacher's 1987 horror movie of the same name, the pilot was written by Heather Mitchell (Scandal) and executive produced by Rob Thomas (iZombie) with Catherine Hardwicke (Twilight) attached to direct. Development on the adaptation had been greenlit in 2016 by The CW, but the pilot was pushed back the following year by the network for undisclosed reasons.
