Since its premiere in 2016, Legends of Tomorrow has become one of the Arrowverse's most audacious and wide-reaching show. And that boundary-pushing continues in Season 6, as the team looks to be going extraterrestrial for their next adventure.

While there is little known about what's to come for the lovable losers in their next outing, here's everything we know about Legends of Tomorrow Season 6 so far.

The Story So Far

Season 6 of Legends of Tomorrow will focus on the final moments of Season 5, with Waverider captain Sara Lance being abducted by aliens. As the team reconciles with her absence and their attempts to get her back, Sara will get a chance to be on her own as she deals with the new environment of outer space.

"When a family loses a parent, and a bunch of children, Party of Five-style, have to raise themselves, it's gonna be really interesting," showrunner Phil Klemmer said about Season 6 in an interview with TVLine. According to Executive Producers Grainne Godfree and Keto Shimizu, every episode of the season will explore a different alien race, likening the story of Season 6 to that of '70s conspiratorial alien movies or The X-Files.

Filming

Unlike many other shows in the Arrowerse, Legends of Tomorrow Season 5 was not impacted by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, as it filmed from July 2019 to January 2020. However, it did delay filming for Season 6 until October 8, 2020. It is expected to conclude on May 10, 2021.

Cast and Crew

Legends of Tomorrow is known for acquiring and losing team members over the years. However, the cast members nearly guaranteed to return at the moment for Season 6 are Caity Lotz (Sara Lance/White Canary), Tala Ashe (Zari Tomaz), Jes Macallan (Ava Sharpe), Amy Louise Pemberton (Gideon), Nick Zano (Nate Heywood/Steel), Dominic Purcell (Mick Rory/Heatwave) and Matt Ryan (John Constantine). Joining them are newly-upgraded series regulars Shayan Sobhian (Behrad Tarazi), Lisseth Chavez (Esperanza "Spooner" Cruz), and Adam Tsekhman (Gary Green).

Season 6's main supervillain will be super genius Bishop, played by The Vampire Diaries alum Raffi Barsoumian. Bates Motel's Aliyah O'Brien will appear as recurring character Kayla, "a fearsome warrior with a high body count and low patience for human incompetence." Arrowverse alumnus David Ramsey was announced to appear in a guest spot on this season, though it's unclear if he will be reprising his role as John Diggle.
