Nick Perks drew this Santa/Superman piece. So how this works is that every day until Christmas Eve, you can click on the current day's Advent Calendar post and it'll have a story in it that is part of my countdown of the 24 Greatest Superman Christmas Comics ever told! And I'll add links to the previous days in each new installment.

And now for Day 16, #9 on the countdown is...

"How Superman Saved Christmas", a short story from "Bittersweet" in "Adventures of Superman" #623 by Joe Casey and Derec Aucoin.

The issue featured Superman and Lois Lane going over some issues in their relationship by taking a trip around the world together, taking breathers and having Superman tell Lois some short stories.

One of them is the brilliantly charming "How Superman Saved Christmas," where Casey tells an old school story, but frames it in modern times and I love how Lois derisively sneers at the concept while Superman insists that it is true.

If it weren't mostly an illustrated text piece instead of a sequential work, this would be much higher on the list.
