The CW's "Invasion!" crossover week has proved itself to be a super-success. Debuting to this season of "Arrow's" highest ratings yet, the episode served not only as a continuation of the multi-part alien invasion story, but the DC Comics-based show's 100th episode.

Crossover episodes always do well with ratings on the CW. This particular episode of "Arrow" was the biggest since last season's crossover with "The Flash," beating out its own season premiere and finale. According to the Nielson numbers, this week's episode had more than twice as many viewers as last week's, indicating that viewers who may only enjoy one or a few of the CW's superhero shows tuned in to see the continuation of the crossover. Add those viewers to lapsed "Arrow" viewers who returned to see the guest-star filled anniversary episode and you have one of the show's most-watched episodes ever.

The CW is probably feeling very confident about this project. Not only did "Supergirl" premiere to the highest ratings of any episode since it jumped to the CW from CBS, but "The Flash" similarly boasted the highest viewership it has had all season.

One would not be surprised to see the pattern continue in tonight's "Legends of Tomorrow." A smash hit like this all but guarantees that we get more superhero crossovers like this in the future.

Starring Stephen Amell as the Emerald Archer, “Arrow” airs Wednesdays at 8 pm ET/PT on The CW. The series also stars Emily Bett Rickards, David Ramsey, John Barrowman, Willa Holland and more.
