ComicsContinuum attended the recent MegaCon in Orlando, where CrossGen updatedfans on the status of their movie slate. Branded Entertainment producer MichaelUslan, who is shepherding all CrossGen properties into film and television,provided these highlights:
WAY OF THE RAT, SCION, CRUX
Writer/director/producer Chuck Russell ("The Scorpion King") isexpected to turn in a script for "The Way of the Rat" this week. Uslanexpects this to be the first CrossGen film to go into production.
Russell will also develop "Scion" as a feature, following"Rat." He is also developing "Crux" for television.Chuck Dixon will co-write a pilot script with the filmmaker.
Uslan told fans to expect a screenwriter announcement on "Route666" soon. Robert Zemeckis is producing this one for DreamWorks.
Both "Sigil" and "Mystic," previously announced astelevision projects, are now being developed as feature films.
Threshold Entertainment is behind "Sigil" while Wes Craven'sproduction shingle is working on "Mystic."
THE CROSSOVERS, THE FIRST
CrossGen is in final negotiations to bring both "The Crossovers"and "The First" to television.
Davis Entertainment would be the partner for a live-action, prime-time television series based on "The Crossovers." Davis is currentlydeveloping the live-action/animated "Garfield" movie. Uslan expects an announcement on a showrunner soon.
New Line Television would be working on "The First," a concept that Uslan describes as "The West Wing of the Gods."
Tom Lassally and Giant Robot Entertainment are in final negotiations on a feature film of "Brath."
Former Warner Bros. studio chief Lorenzo di Bonaventura is on board to produce a big-screen version of "Negation." Uslan said that this one would be a "very, very big picture."
