CrossGen to ship Sojourn #1 one week early

Official Press Release

TAMPA, FL., July 9, 2001 - CrossGen Comics has announced that they will ship the first issue of their newest title, Sojourn, one week early. Originally solicited to be on-sale July 18, Sojourn #1 will now be in stores July 11.

CrossGen is moving up the release schedule to give retailers an extra week to sell through this anticipated title. CrossGen is overshipping Sojourn #1 by 25 percent to those stores that participate in Diamond Comic Distributors' overship program. Those overship copies will arrive on the original ship date of July 18.

Another reason for this advanced schedule is to give readers who have been eagerly awaiting this issue after reading the Sojourn Prequel a treat by allowing them to pick it up early. In an industry where late shipping has become the norm, CrossGen is trying to buck the trend.

"The CrossGen system allows for us to have books done ahead of schedule," said CrossGen Publisher Mark Alessi. "Since Sojourn Prequel was such a critical success and Sojourn #1 is complete, we didn't see a reason to hold it any longer. The fans want to read it and the retailers want to sell it. We said that eventually we'd miss a ship date, hopefully this will be how we miss them, by shipping early, not late."
