CrossGen hires inker Matt Ryan

Official Press Release

TAMPA, FL., September 17, 2001 - CrossGen Comics has hired inker Matt Ryan to work over the pencils of current associate penciler Fabrizio Fiorentino. The team is scheduled to take on a title of their own sometime in early 2002.

Ryan is a 1993 graduate of the Joe Kubert School of Cartoon and Graphic Art. Immediately upon graduation he landed the job as inker of Marvel Comics' X-Men over fellow alum, Andy Kubert. The two worked together on that title for two and one half years. During his career, he has also inked the Marvel titles Daredevil and Silver Surfer, as well as Legends of the Dark Knight for DC Comics.

"Matt's an extremely talented inker and an all-around nice guy," said CrossGen Publisher Mark Alessi. "X-Men is the best-selling title in comics and we're very fortunate to have someone with his skills working with one of our outstanding new pencilers. They're gonna be a helluva team."

Ryan has already relocated to Tampa from Alabama and is currently working on Mystic #17, Fabrizio Fiorentino's relief issue.

"It's a great opportunity to come and work at CrossGen," Ryan said. "Fabrizio is a great talent and someone to watch for in the future. I think the two of us make a great team and I'm looking forward to being part of the creative process every step of the way. That's a luxury I was not afforded while working on X-Men."
