Critical Role announces its partnership with the popular immersive drama podcast Midst.

Posting to the Critical Role blog, the company revealed it had partnered with the anonymous Midst trio known only collectively as the Third Person for its first stories outside of Matt Mercer's D&D world of Exandria. Additionally, Critical Role will launch new, remastered audio versions of the previous season along with "beautiful, lightly-animated video editions" of all episodes. Critical Role will roll out the remastered first three episodes on April 11, 12 and 13.

Additionally, fans who want to listen in early can become paid subscribers to "Join the Fold." Subscribers will get access to the first five episodes on April 11 free from ads and to bonus content called the Appendices, which expand on Midst's lore. Fans can sign up on Midst's website coming April 11. Following the premiere, Critical Role will air all 19 episodes of Midst Season 1 every Wednesday. Paid subscribers will stay two episodes ahead.

What is the Midst Podcast?

"In this series, three mischievous narrators will take you on a surreal, space-western journey about the doomed planet of Midst that spins on the border between two halves of the cosmos: the dazzling bright atmosphere called "The Un" and the sea of dark otherworldly fog called "The Fold," Critical Role's blog explains. "Life is simple for most of the planet’s inhabitants…until an influential and shadowy society known as The Trust takes an interest in Midst and sparks an unexpected chain of events, intertwining the lives of a crotchety outlaw, a freakishly-virtuous cultist, and a weird diabolical bastard. This excellent story has unsolved murders, cult brainwashing, supernatural darkness, bright spots of hope, found families, and rich world-building."

Critical Role Campaign 3 Promises Calamity-Level Danger

Critical Role has continued to expand astronomically since it premiered in March 2015. Recently, Campaign 3 saw a significant table shakeup for Critical Role as Mercer split the party, leaving half of Bells Hells to fend for themselves in Uthodurn with new companions Deanna and F.R.I.D.A. The fates of Oyrm (Liam O'Brien), Laudna (Marisha Ray) and Ashton (Taliesin Jaffe) remain unknown, as the show has focused on the other half of the team since. Additionally, Vox Machina and Mighty Nein heroes who joined the fray as allies to Bells Hells have also gone missing, causing much anxiety among Critters.

Midst's remastered episodes premiere on April 11. Critical Role Campaign 3 returns on April 6.
