SPOILER WARNING: This article contains major spoilers for "Crisis on Infinite Earths, Part 3," the third installment of this year's Arrowverse crossover.
After Mia Smoak, John Diggle and John Constantine travel to Purgatory to retrieve Oliver Queen's soul, the trio of heroes met Jim Corrigan, also known as The Spectre.
When Oliver's friends tried to convince him to return with them, The Spectre told Oliver that his journey isn't over yet, and there is another path for him that doesn't involve reuniting with his physical body. From there, it appears that Oliver has possibly taken Jim's place as the new Spectre. However, with two more episodes to air, we'll have to wait until next year for confirmation on the Green Arrow's true fate.
Supernatural alum Stephen Lobo portrayed Detective Jim Corrigan, who acts as host to a powerful cosmic entity known as the Spectre.
Debuting in 1940's More Fun Comics #52, the Spectre was created by Jerry Siegel and Bernard Baily. Three different incarnations of Corrigan have been bonded to the Spectre throughout the character's long history, but the Arrowverse adapted the one who played a key role in Marv Wolfman and George Pérez's Crisis on Infinite Earths. The Spectre ultimately convinced the surviving heroes and villains of the DC Universe to work together in an attempt to stop the Anti-Monitor from destroying the multiverse. He was even powerful enough to fight the Anti-Monitor.
"Crisis on Infinite Earths" will return after the winter hiatus. The crossover will conclude on Tuesday, Jan. 14 in Arrow at 8 p.m. ET/PT and in DC's Legends of Tomorrow at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
