WARNING: The following contains major spoilers for episodes four and five of "Crisis on Infinite Earths," the latest Arrowverse crossover.

Much of the first half of "Crisis on Infinite Earths" saw the superheroes of the Arrowverse search for seven specific people. According to the Monitor, these so-called Paragons would be crucial in defeating the Anti-Monitor and saving all of reality. While some of them were easy to find (Supergirl, Flash, White Canary), others, like Kingdom Come Superman, Ryan Choi and Batwoman were much harder to recruit. Eventually however, all seven Paragons were assembled -- just as the Anti-Monitor wiped out the entire multiverse.

Kept safe at the end of time at the Vanishing Point, the seven Paragons were dealt another surprise when Lex Luthor erased Superman out of existence and took his place. With all of reality gone and only seven heroes left, "Crisis on Infinite Earths" had us asking how these characters could win the day.

In the crossover's fourth chapter, we finally found out.

All Paragons were chosen by the Monitor because they each embody a specific idea: Supergirl is the Paragon of Hope; Barry Allen is the Paragon of Love; White Canary is the Paragon of Destiny; Martian Manhunter is the Paragon of Honor; Batwoman is the Paragon of Courage; Ryan Choi is the Paragon of Humanity; and finally, Lex Luthor made himself the Paragon of Truth after rewriting reality with the Book of Destiny.

After the destruction of the multiverse, the seven Paragons spend a great deal of time at the Vanishing Point, trying to keep their spirits up and find a way out. However, it's the arrival of Oliver Queen's Spectre that sets things into motion. Now an all-powerful cosmic being, Oliver explains that all of them are crucial to bringing back reality. As he explains it, he can light the spark, but he needs all of them to fan the flame.

The meaning of Oliver's words become clear when he begins fighting the Anti-Monitor in the Anti-Matter Universe. The clash between the two cosmic gods nearly reaches a stalemate, but the Spectre uses his power to create a beam that can bring everything back. However, he can't do it alone -- he needs the Paragons to focus all of their energies onto that beam, infusing it with the elements that are necessary to create the new multiverse: hope, love, destiny, honor, courage, humanity and truth.

It's only when the seven Paragons combine their efforts with the Spectre's energy that the new multiverse is born. Together, they are able to bring back all of the Earths that were destroyed (with a few changes, both big and small).

At the end of the day, the Paragons ended up living to the promise of their potential. The Monitor believed they were the ones who could save reality, and they were. All they had to do was give the multiverse a hard reboot.

"Crisis on Infinite Earths" is available on The CW's streaming service in its entirety.
