"Crisis on Infinite Earths" premieres on Sunday, Dec. 8, bringing The CW's various superhero series together in a crossover that will determine the fate of the Arrowverse. However, the event is also expanding to comics, with DC releasing a pair of giant-sized in-continuity issues launching during the midseason cliffhanger before the event concludes in January.

Each issue in the two-part miniseries runs 100 pages and will be available at Walmart, expanding on the events of the crossover. The first issue will include a 24-page main feature written by original Crisis co-creator Marv Wolfman and Arrowverse executive producer Marc Guggenheim, with pencils by Tom Derenick, inks by Trevor Scott, colors by John Kalisz and letters by Wes Abbott. Wolfman and Guggenheim write the eight-page backup, with pencils by Tom Grummett, inks by Danny Miki and colors by Chris Sotomayor. Furthermore, original Crisis co-creator George Perez illustrated a cover for the upcoming special, directly homaging his previous work on the landmark limited series while also featuring several fan-favorite Arrowverse characters.

"The story that we’re attempting to tell with our interpretation of Crisis on Infinite Earths is so ambitious, we couldn’t confine it to five hours," Guggenheim said in a statement. "I’m incredibly excited that we’re getting the chance to tell an ‘in canon’ story that ties directly into the crossover narrative. The comics will enable us to include characters and concepts that couldn’t be included in the crossover, plus the chance to collaborate further with original Crisis architect Marv Wolfman is just icing on the cake."

Wolfman, Guggenheim, Derenick, Scott, Abbot, Grummet, Miki and Sotomayor will also lend their talents to Issue #2, with the addition of Andy Owens and Hi-Fi on the main story. Both issues, meanwhile, will feature reprinted material from the original Crisis, with a full reprint of Crisis on Infinite Earths #1 and an excerpt from Issue #7 in the first installment and a full reprint of Crisis on Infinite Earths #8 and excerpts from DC Universe: Legacies #6 in the second.
