SPOILER WARNING: This article contains major spoilers for "Crisis on Infinite Earths, Part 1," the first installment of this year's Arrowverse crossover.

The Arrowverse has finally done it: Earths-1 and 38 have officially combined.

The events of "Crisis on Infinite Earths, Part 1" took place largely on Earth-38, Supergirl's world. However, by the end of the episode, that world was destroyed by a wave of antimatter. Fortunately, the assembled heroes -- Supergirl, Superman, Green Arrow, Mia Smoak, White Canary, the Atom and Batwoman -- managed to save a hefty chunk of the population by transporting them to Earth-1.

When the Monitor realized they had lost the battle, he brought the heroes back to Earth-1. "Your universe is no more," he informed Supergirl. "Of 7.53 billion, three billion souls made it to Earth-1 on the armada of ships. I calculate one billion souls survived due to [Oliver's] noble sacrifice." Earth-1 is, of course, home to Green Arrow, Flash and the Legends of Tomorrow.

Since "Crisis on Infinite Earths" was announced last year, fans speculated the crossover may play the same role as the comic book event by Marv Wolfman and George Perez. The maxiseries pared down the DC multiverse, so that only a handful of Earths remained. As such, many believed the Arrowverse crossover would serve the same function by combining Earth-1 and Earth-38. The first installment of "Crisis" confirmed that to be the case.

However, it looks like the citizens of Earth-38 will remember where they came from. In the comic, only four characters didn't forget the events of Crisis: Earth-2 Superman, Earth-2 Lois Lane, Earth-Prime Superboy and Earth-3 Alexander Luthor. As a result, it would seem the Arrowverse event is deviating from the comics, at least for now.

After all, the evacuating citizens of National City looked pretty traumatized as Supergirl and her friends ushered them into the ships that would take them to relative safety on Earth-1. What's more, the denizens of Earth-1 will likely be pretty surprised when three billion people suddenly appear on their doorsteps. With four episodes left in the universe-altering crossover, though, there's plenty of time for all this to change.

"Crisis on Infinite Earths" begins Sunday, Dec. 8 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Supergirl, then continues in Batwoman on Monday, Dec. 9 at 8 p.m. ET/PT and in The Flash on Tuesday, Dec. 10 at 8 p.m. ET/PT. After the winter hiatus, the crossover will conclude on Tuesday, Jan. 14 in Arrow at 8 p.m. ET/PT and in DC's Legends of Tomorrow at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
