DC's Legends of Tomorrow star Brandon Routh will be a man of many roles in Crisis on Infinite Earths. According to producer Marc Guggenheim, the actor will play two separate DC characters on the same screen during the major crossover event.

"It’s fun because [Routh] gets to not only play Superman but also Clark Kent, and watching him inhabit those two roles. I say two roles, because he plays them obviously very differently from one another," Guggenheim told Entertainment Weekly. "We also had the opportunity to see Brandon act opposite himself, because Ray Palmer is in the crossover as well."

"We certainly wouldn’t want to miss an opportunity for Superman played by Brandon Routh to interact with Ray Palmer played by Brandon Routh,” he teased. "We really felt an obligation to visit all of the different corners of the DC Universe that we could get our hands on. It’s exciting to see all of the different ways that has come together."

Routh -- who played the Man of Steel in 2006's Superman Returns -- has been part of the Arrowverse since his Arrow debut as Ray Palmer in the Season 3 premiere. He went on to become the Atom, a shrinking superhero with a mechanical super suit, who has been a main cast member on Legends of Tomorrow since 2016. He will play Kingdom Come Superman as well as Ray Palmer for the five-show crossover event, which will bring his two characters face to face.

"Crisis on Infinite Earths" begins Sunday, Dec. 8 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Supergirl, then continues in Batwoman on Monday, Dec. 9 at 8 p.m. ET/PT and in The Flash on Tuesday, Dec. 10 at 8 p.m. ET/PT. After the winter hiatus, the crossover will conclude on Tuesday, Jan. 14 in Arrow at 8 p.m. ET/PT and in DC's Legends of Tomorrow at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
