With all of the Arrowverse series and beyond coming together for "Crisis on Infinite Earths," it may seem easy for characters to get lost in the shuffle given the sheer scope. Fortunately, Black Lightning's first ever team-up with the rest of the Arrowverse superheroes will be more than a mere cameo.

In an interview with Indie Wire, the crossover event's showrunner and executive producer, Marc Guggenheim, has revealed that the electric superhero's role will not only be bigger than a glorified cameo but he would appear in multiple episodes.

"He’s able to appear in hours three and five of the crossover, and it’s much more than a cameo. It feels substantial, and it was great," Guggenheim explained. "Really, I don’t think the crossover would have been as satisfying as it is if Black Lightning the show hadn’t been represented in some way. And the fact that its [actor Cress Williams] and the fact that it’s more than just one scene is really great."

Guggenheim had revealed earlier that Black Lightning's inclusion was a late decision due to the distance between Crisis' filming location in Vancouver and the Black Lightning series' filming location in Atlanta. However, the writing team on Black Lightning was able to reduce Williams' role in several episodes to accommodate his appearance in Crisis.

"Crisis on Infinite Earths" begins Sunday, Dec. 8 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Supergirl, then continues in Batwoman on Monday, Dec. 9 at 8 p.m. ET/PT and in The Flash on Tuesday, Dec. 10 at 8 p.m. ET/PT. After the winter hiatus, the crossover will conclude on Tuesday, Jan. 14 in Arrow at 8 p.m. ET/PT and in DC's Legends of Tomorrow at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
