Japanese anime contains an amalgamation of characters. One can find the heroic ones, the evil ones, the anti-heroes, and even the ones who are extremely capable of giving anyone the creeps. In most anime series, the creepy characters are not really the main characters, and often act as fillers. However, there are many anime series in which the creepy ones really get their time to shine and have major roles.

Some of the old creepy characters just don't work by today's standards. May it be their lack of purpose or simply because they might wrongly influence the current generation, there are certain characters who just would not fly today.

10 Daisuke Aoki (Kodomo No Jikan)

Creepy Anime Characters Daisuke Aoki

Daisuke Aoki is not exactly a creepy anime character by appearance, but his actions certainly are. He is introduced as a new teacher at Futatsubashi Elementary School where Daisuke meets Rin, his eight-year-old student. Soon over the series, Daisuke starts growing feelings for Rin, and eventually, they end up as a couple.

Daisuke's relationship with Rin is just completely wrong. Rin is an underage kid, and Daisuke returns her feelings, along with taking her help in gaining control over the classroom. Daisuke's illegal relationship and his poor performance at his job are not things that anime fans would want to see today.

9 Orochimaru (Naruto)

Creepy Anime Characters Orochimaru

Orochimaru is a strange case of an antagonist in the Naruto series. While he was introduced as a powerful and feared villain, he slowly disintegrated into a confused and creepy chap who is extremely obsessed with Sasuke. Ultimately, he was pardoned by the village elders for his crimes because of his help in the Fourth Shinobi World War.

Orochimaru's character is an example of characters that do not really fly today. Fans either want a strong villain or an anti-hero with whom they can sympathize. Since Orochimaru does not belong to any of these, fans have not been happy seeing him acting as a kind of comedic relief in the Boruto series.

8 Shirayuki Hotogi (Aria The Scarlet Ammo)

Creepy Anime Characters Shirayuki Hotogi

Aria The Scarlet Ammo was released in 2011 as an anime adapted from a Japanese light novel series. In the series, Shirayuki is introduced as the President of the Butei High, and is a very calm and reserved person. However, Shirayuki has her own creepy and obsessive nature when it comes to her love interest, Kinji. Shirayuki suffers from a split personality and can quickly change from calm to violent and sadistic.

Shirayuki is often seen assaulting any girl who comes near Kinji. She even assaults Aria, and calls her "a thieving cat" when Shirayuki learns that Kinji and Aria are living together. Shirayuki's unhealthy obsession, along with her violent personality, would not be the best example of love for the fans who watch anime in present times.

7 Drosselmeyer (Princess Tutu)

Creepy Anime Characters Drosselmeyer

When viewers first meet Drosselmeyer in Princess Tutu, he is an old creepy storyteller, who seems way too involved in the lives of the main characters.  Along with being the storyteller in the series, Drosselmeyer slowly reveals himself to be a sadistic character who will do anything to make the story more entertaining, even if it means killing someone.

However, at the end of the day, Drosselmeyer just ends up as a creepy old storyteller. He seems more like an addition in the story, and doesn't really find his footing in the series. In the end, he eventually accepts his fate as a character in someone else's story.

6 Koyomi Araragi (Monogatari)

Creepy Anime Characters Koyomi Araragi

Monogatari is an anime adaptation of a Japanese light novel series written by Nision Isin that tells the story of Koyomi Araragi, a high school student who survives a vampire attack. He then gets involved with ghosts, spirits, apparitions, and more supernatural phenomena while helping out various girls around him.

While Koyomi is the main character of the Monogatari series, he also comes off as a creepy pervert. He is seen to like indulging in fantasizing about girls who look very young and often shows questionable behavior.

5 Naraku (InuYasha)

Creepy Anime Characters Naraku

Naraku is introduced as the primary antagonist of the InuYasha series. Responsible for the death of Kikiyo, Naraku is a cruel and sadistic character who wishes to possess the ultimate power and dominance over others. While he is often seen as a handsome man, Naraku is a powerful yokai who can change his form into many creepy demons.

Naraku's character as a creepy villain would not find a warm welcome in present times because of his lack of steady character. While he was the main villain, Naraku failed to give much excitement and was present mostly only to transform into a creepy spider or to occasionally lust over Kikiyo.

4 Yuno Gasai (Future Diary)

Creepy Anime Characters Yuno Gasai

Yuno Gasai is one of those characters with a tragic backstory, but that does not really justify her actions. In Future Diary, Yuno is obsessively in love with the main male protagonist, Yukiteru Amano. While she shows her sweet and feminine side to the outside world, Yuno is a dark and creepy character who will stop at nothing to gain Yukiteru's love.

In the series, Yuno is seen to force the relationship on Yukiteru by threatening his loved ones. Yuno is even ready to kill Yukiteru's mother, if she proved to be an obstacle in the relationship. In present times, Yuno's obsessive nature and Yukiteru's way of handling it will certainly not be appreciated.

3 The Major (Hellsing)

Creepy Anime Characters The Major

Hellsing tells the story about a mysterious organization whose main goal is to fight and destroy ghouls, vampires, and supernatural creatures that are a threat to England. In Hellsing, the main antagonist is the supreme commander of Millennium, The Major. Always armed with a creepy grin, The Major is a war-obsessed maniac who often admits to being a madman.

The Major does not really have a purpose of being an antagonist except for his war-loving, maniacal nature. A villain with no purpose does not exactly fit in with the exceptional villains of today's anime.

2 Anna Nishikinomiya (Shimoneta)

Creepy Anime Characters Anna Nishikinomiya

Anna Nishikinomiya is introduced as the responsible Student Council President of the Shimoneta series. While she appears to be perfect and naïve, Anna has a completely different side when it comes to Tanukichi Okuma. Her obsession with Tanukichi leads her to do questionable stuff that would not quite be acceptable today.

Anna's claim about obsession being love and that everything committed out of love is right does not sit right in present times. She even attempts to sexually assault Tanukichi to obtain his "love nectar." Now that is a whole new level of crazy and creepy.

1 Nobuyuki Sugou (Sword Art Online)

Creepy Anime Characters Nobuyuki Sugou

Nobuyuki Sugou is a total hidden creep in Sword Art Online. As the main antagonist in the Fairy Dance Arc, Sugou is a greedy and evil manipulator who hides behind the façade of a pleasant businessman. In the series, Sugou attempts to achieve his goal at any cost, even if innocent lives are lost.

Along with being an evil manipulator, Sugou also comes off as a creepy pervert. He is engaged to the young Asuna, and is seen to have a unhealthy obsession with her. Sugou also sexually assaults Asuna, and that would be a total no-no in present times.
