WARNING: The following contains spoilers for The Craft: Legacy, now available on VOD.

The Craft: Legacy follows up the 1996 cult film regarding a coven of witches in Los Angeles, with these teens using magic to better their high-school lives, as well as their identities. It focuses on Lily as she and her mom Helen move in with Adam and his sons. However, just when Lily's powers begin to spiral out of control and she finds out she's adopted, Adam blindsides her by using magic of his own, revealing himself to be a cult leader who wants to steal her powers. Unfortunately, Lily's friends opted to bind her powers, thinking she went off the rails, but as they return to rescue her, the outcome sets Lily up on another dark journey to find out who she really is.

Lily's Coven Is Stronger Together

When Adam tries to hurt Lily in a sacrificial ritual, the other witches -- Tabby, Frankie and Lourdes -- show up. They reconcile and unbind Lily, but their elemental powers don't work as planned since Adam's a proficient warlock. Luckily, he throws them to the four cardinal points, and as Lily crawls West and channels her water abilities, the group unleashes an ultimate spell.

They trap Adam before lightning strikes him, and Lily watches as he burns, glad her coven's proven that they're the ones with true power. It's also sweet revenge for Lily since Adam killed Timmy, a boy she hexed into liking her. In the aftermath, the girls say goodbye for now, and Helen, released from Adam's captivity, takes Lily to see her birth mom. The film concludes with Lily meeting Nancy, the witch who went crazy in the original and Lily's mother.

How Nancy's Return Sets Up a Sequel

Nancy was the coven leader in the original film, and she was someone who wanted absolute power for the girls, but she and the crew were defeated by Sarah and depowered. Since then Nancy's been institutionalized. This sets up Lily to find out who her real dad is. Given that her full name is Lilith, chances are it could be the demonic Manon.

It'll be intriguing to learn how the pregnancy happened, as Nancy was under watch all this time. Lily has tremendous powers, so Nancy could also help her hone her craft or maybe try to absorb the powers for herself. It's hard to trust Nancy since she's always been selfish, but Helen did hint she never wanted Lily to come back to LA. This suggests there may be light in Nancy yet, as she looks out for Lily and tries to avoid a potential, dark destiny.

The Sons of Adam Will Want Revenge

A follow-up can also dissect Adam's cult as his three sons -- Jacob, Abe and Isiah --- may want to absorb Lily's powers in Manon's name, just like their dad. Plus, with Isiah being Timmy's ex and Abe taking a liking to Lily, it'll be an interesting family dynamic. Jacob did seem to be more like his dad, so he could be the new master, causing conflict within the family.

As for the witches Lily left back home, they could feud with the cult, who believe only men should wield magic. This also sets up Sarah, and potentially Bonnie and Rochelle, to return to help them. With Nancy and Lily, fans can see two generations uniting to fix mistakes of the past and prove that magic is truly a force for good.

Starring Cailee Spaeny, Gideon Adlon, Lovie Simone, Zoey Luna, Nicholas Galitzine, Michelle Monaghan and David Duchovny, The Craft: Legacy is now available on VOD.
