Marvel Comics fans know the relationship between Daredevil and the Punisher is a complicated one, at best. The blind vigilante and über-violent antihero often finding themselves battling each other, even while working towards the same goal, as they have very different viewpoints on how to achieve their goals.
That relationship will translate to the second season of Marvel Television‘s acclaimed Netflix series, which finds Frank Castle invading Hell’s Kitchen, the stomping ground of Matt Murdock’s scarlet-clad alter ego.
“It’s really complicated,” “Daredevil” lead Charlie Cox told “Empire Magazine” of the pair’s on-screen interactions. “It feels like they’re sworn enemies, but at times it feels like they could be best friends and brothers. In order to find common ground, compromise has to be made.”
Of course, Jon Bernthal’s Punisher isn’t the only new face Daredevil will contend with in the March 18-debuting season. Eodi Yung joins the show’s cast as Elektra Natchios, Matt’s former girlfriend who also, as it turns out, is a world-class ninja assassin.
“I think every man has an Elektra in their past,” Cox tells “Empire.” “If you imagine that relationship, a very fiery, very lustful, very loving and hating relationship, and then you add to that two people who know martial arts, you’re going to have a very interesting dynamic…”
Charlie Cox, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson and Rosario Dawson return for the second season of the acclaimed drama, joined by Jon Bernthal as The Punisher, Élodie Yung as Elektra and Stephen Rider as Blake Tower.
