The live-action Cowboy Bebop reboot received a mixed critical reception upon its release in November 2021, and although the show managed to accumulate over 70 million total viewing hours in its first week, it was canceled in December of that same year after only one season. Despite the fact that the show's run on Netflix was short-lived, the show is now being officially recognized for the production quality of its main title sequence, which recreated the anime's original intro and reused the song "TANK!" by original composer Yoko Kanno.

The live-action reboot of director Shinichiro Watanabe's classic was written by Christopher Yost, who is best known for his work on The Mandalorian (2019), and Marvel's Thor films. The series was produced through a collaboration between Netflix and Tomorrow Studios, which have also teamed up for the production of the upcoming live-action One Piece series. The Cowboy Bebop reboot cast John Cho as main protagonist Spike Spiegel, while the fellow members of his crew, Faye Valentine and Jet Black were played by Daniella Pineda and Mustafa Shakir, respectively. Vicious, the main antagonist of the series, is played by Alex Hassell. Several members of the staff of the original 1998 anime series were also involved with the reboot: Watanabe served as a consultant, Kanno returned to produce to show's music, and Koichi Yamadera, Megumi Hayashibara and Norio Wakamoto reprise their roles in the Japanese dub as Spike Spiegel, Faye Valentine and Vicious, respectively.
