Radical Edward is one of Cowboy Bebop's most beloved characters. In Netflix's adaptation, Ed is played by newcomer actor Eden Perkins, who discussed what it was like debuting Ed in live-action.

Perkins told Still Watching Netflix they're "very excited for people to get to know Ed in the future, and see what she's like." They also described their time on set as "incredible," adding that "even though there's only one scene, she [Radical Edward] packs a punch of personality."

"Getting into costume for the first time, it's so cool," Perkins continued. "I love her costume so much. It's very free and movable, I suppose, which suits Ed very much. And the wig, the wig is so cool. It's so spiky and I desperately want to touch it, but I don't because otherwise, it will mess it up. But it's such a cool costume." They also revealed that shooting Ed's scenes only took one night, terming the Cowboy Bebop set as "amazing."

In the original anime, released in 1998, Radical Edward debuts in Episode 9, "Jamming with Edward." The character is presented as a 13-year-old hacker from Earth who helps Spike, Faye and Jet with an AI bounty. Following fan speculation that Radical Edward would not feature in the live-action adaptation, Netflix released footage showing Perkin's Radical Ed swaying in an alley before waving and disappearing.

Perkins opened up about their experience as Ed, stating, "Ed is such an amazing character. She's just so incredibly lively, and she just brings energy wherever she goes. Looking at all the scenes from the anime of Ed, she's just so cool. She's an amazing character, and I really relate to her actually and it was so, so incredibly exciting being cast as her. One of my favorite Ed moments from the anime is definitely when there's a bounty on the Bebop, and he's being mean to Ein and Ed just comes down, bonks him on the head and starts biting him. It's truly amazing."

The first season of Netflix's Cowboy Bebop, currently streaming on Netflix, has been met with conflicting feelings from fans and negative reviews from critics. It is still unknown whether Netflix will renew the series for a Season 2.

Season 1 of Cowboy Bebop is now available to stream on Netflix.
