Sony has delayed its untitled third Spider-Man film to Dec. 17, 2021. The delay only applies to the film's domestic release, leaving the international date up in the air.

The news comes hours after Disney removed Mulan from its release schedule and delayed Avatar 2, which was originally supposed to premiere on Dec. 17, 2021, by one year. The move allows Spider-Man to open right as the lucrative Christmas movie season begins.

This is the second delay for the Spider-Man: Far From Home sequel. Originally scheduled to premiere on July 16, 2021, the film was delayed to November back in April. It is unclear if this will impact the movie's shooting schedule, which titular star Tom Holland claims should be complete by early 2021.

Avatar 2 was not the only film in the franchise to be delayed. Disney pushed back its three other sequels, with Avatar 3 moving from Dec. 22, 2023 to Dec. 20, 2024. Avatar 4, previously Dec. 19, 2025, is now set to premiere on Dec. 18, 2026, and Avatar 5, originally scheduled to hit theaters on Dec. 27, 2027, will now come out on Dec. 22, 2028.

Starring Tom Holland and Zendaya, the third MCU Spider-Man film is set for release on Dec. 17, 2021. An official title for Spider-Man 3 has not yet been announced.
