Less than three years after they met at an anime convention, Doug Engler and Leeann Wetherby tied the knot Saturday in a Pokémon-themed ceremony at NorthEast Comic Con.

Doug said he was initially impressed by Leeann's handmade Pokémon suits. "We became friends," he told Boston's Fox 25. "And about a year later, we fell in love playing 'Minecraft.'"

The wedding, which was promoted on the Facebook page of the Wilmington, Massachusetts, convention, boasted invitations designed to resemble a Pokémon. Doug, Leann and some of the guests were, of course, in costume.

"Now the hard part -- sharing a PokeBall," the officiant said. "How much room is there in that thing?"

Doug, who said that NorthEast Comic Con "just felt like the right place" to get married, added this morning on Facebook: "Today I woke up not to my beautiful wife for the first time. Almost seemed like a dream yesterday. It was just so far beyond my wildest dreams. Thank you to everyone who helped make this day spectacular."
