UPDATED 8/20/2015 2:10 PM PT: What many presumed to be a tease of the season two "Daredevil" costume looks to be further promotion for the show's first season. A tweet from the show's official account showcasing a Daredevil costume led to many outlets -- including CBR -- concluding that it was a teaser promoting the show's second season. Shortly after, another photo of Charlie Cox in costume surfaced, prompting a reporter from IGN asking costume designer Stephanie Maslansky if that image was from season one or two -- and she replied one, suggesting it's too early for any hints from the show's second season (via ScreenCrush).

Original story: We're still quite a bit off from the second season of Netflix's "Daredevil" -- filming has only recently started, and "Jessica Jones" has to make its debut on the streaming video service -- but that didn't stop the Marvel Television series from releasing a new teaser image hyping the hit show's 2016 return.

Debuting on Twitter, the photo doesn't appear to reveal too much. However, when you adjust the shadows of the image, you can see that it appears to be a slightly-modified version of Season 1's suit; the cowl in the photo sports a black forehead whereas the original mask was completely red with black outlines. A small detail, to be sure, but one that may perhaps indicate bigger changes to come.

The second season of "Daredevil" will feature the Marvel Cinematic Universe debut of the Punisher, played by Jon Bernthal. Marvel described this take on the characters as "a vigilante who aims to clean up New York City's Hell's Kitchen by any means necessary, no matter how lethal the results."

"Daredevil" returns to Netflix in 2016.
