DC's Batman and Marvel's Cyclops become a single hybrid character, "Cybat," in some epic cosplay.

Posted onto Instagram by user Adrian D. (@cosplayorbust) and with photography by BC Photography (@bryantcoxphotography), the "Cybat" cosplay reinvents DC's Dark Knight as one of the founding members of Marvel's X-Men, Cyclops. "With great powers come great responsibility," the caption reads.

Cyclops and Batman's Most Recent Marvel and DC Adventures

Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, Cyclops/Scott Summers first appeared in 1963's X-Men #1. A longtime leader and member of the titular mutant team, Cyclops' world has been turned upside down after he and everyone else living on Krakoa have found themselves being manipulated by Mister Sinister in Sins of Sinister. The event -- which has largely focused on the titular villain, the Quiet Council of Krakoa and a handful of others, though Cyclops and a number of other X-Men have made regular appearances -- follows mutantkind over the span of 1,000 years as the world becomes trapped in a reality Sinister created and then accidentally made permanent.

Created by Bob Kane and Bill Finger, Batman/Bruce Wayne first appeared in 1939's Detective Comics #27. A member of DC's core trinity alongside Superman and Wonder Woman and regular member of the Justice League, Batman is one of the most recognizable and popular superheroes ever created.

In recent continuity, Batman's solo series has thrown Bruce into a completely different version of Gotham City following an intense battle with a new, robotic villain named Failsafe. In Batman #133 (by Chip Zdarsky, Mike Hawthrone, Adriano Di Benedetto, Tomeu Morey and Clayton Cowles), Bruce met a version of the Riddler who wears a red suit and has a question mark tattooed to his face, fought a Venom-addicted Harvey Dent/Two-Face and found himself in a series of caves hiding underneath the city that Selina Kyle/Catwoman refers to as "Arkham." Tim Drake/Robin, meanwhile, witnessed Bruce's sudden disappearance when they were battling Failsafe together and has since taken it upon himself to find and rescue the Dark Knight.

Batman's other main DC series, Detective Comics, has pitted the Dark Knight against a sinister family called the Orghams. While their plans for Gotham City have not yet been fully revealed, the Orghams have been releasing demonic beings called Azmer. Talia al Ghul, Mister Freeze and Two-Face also play prominent roles in the Ram V-written series, the latter of whom just recently uncovered Batman's secret identity.
