Despite growing fears over the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) in the United States, both WonderCon and Comic-Con International in San Diego plan to continue as scheduled.

"Comic-Con is working with local officials as it pertains to the COVID-19 situation and continues to monitor developments closely," SDCC told ComicBook.com. "At this time both shows, WonderCon Anaheim and Comic-Con in San Diego, are moving forward as scheduled. As always, the safety and security of all our attendees is of utmost importance. Please rest assured that these concerns are being taken very seriously and we will not make any decisions regarding the rescheduling of shows without weighing all considerations carefully."

Currently, California has 157 reported cases of coronavirus and the state has urged "social distancing" measures such as avoiding large gatherings to reduce the spread of the virus. Schools and universities across the state have ceased in-person classes and the state has secured hotels to quarantine individuals confirmed to have the virus.

No brands or personalities have yet pulled out of either WonderCon or SDCC. WonderCon is in April, while SDCC won't take place until July, so in the meantime, the situation may change for better or worse.
