Two of the CW's shows, Supernatural and The 100, were both in the middle of filming their final seasons when the threat of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic began to rise. Although The 100 may be able to complete filming, production has been postponed for Supernatural.
As with other productions that have recently shut down, the decision to alter Supernatural's schedule was made for the safety of the cast and crew, according to Deadline. The show had weeks of filming left for its fifteenth and final season and the decision was carefully considered beforehand.
Depending on the length of the delay, however, another CW show may also be affected, as its lead is to be one of Supernatural's stars. Jared Padalecki, who plays Sam Winchester, will be playing the titular character of the reboot of Walker, Texas Ranger, which was meant to begin production shortly after Supernatural wrapped.
Although The 100 was likewise producing its final season, with only a few days of filming left it may be able to safely wrap up before shutting its doors. The show is entering its seventh season and has potential for a spinoff for its devoted fanbase.
Many shows and movies have been forced to delay production to deal with the threat of the coronavirus pandemic, and entertainment venues have been closing, while live events are cancelled.
