Corey Hawkins has officially joined AMC's "The Walking Dead" as Heath, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

In Robert Kirkman and Charlie Adlard's ongoing "The Walking Dead" comic series, Heath first appeared as a supply runner for the Alexandria Safe Zone in "The Walking Dead" #69. He eventually befriends Glenn (played by Steven Yeun in the show) and becomes Denise's lover.

The show's last season ended in Alexandria, just as Rick (Andrew Lincoln) executed Pete (Corey Brill), and Morgan (Lennie James) and Daryl (Norman Reedus) caught up with Rick's group. Hawkins' Heath, who has a recurring role, joins fellow Alexandrians Aaron (Ross Marquand), Jessie (Alexandra Breckenridge) and Father Gabriel (Seth Gilliam).

Hawkins will play Dr. Dre in "Straight Outta Compton" when the film hits theaters on August 14. He has also appeared in "Romeo and Juliet" (2014) and "Iron Man 3."

"The Walking Dead" returns to AMC this October.
