Always a fan favorite, Rogue debuted 50 years ago in Avengers Annual #10 50. Created by Chris Claremont and Michael Golden, this mutant has one of the most polemic powers in the Marvel Multiverse: she can absorb the life energy of others. With only a touch, Rogue can take anyone's strength and memories, and even murder them. In the case of superpowered beings, she can steal their powers.

Although Rogue has made peace with her mutation (more or less), she spent years considering it a curse because of how it keeps her physically apart from the people she loves. However, many consider her powers a blessing considering how easily she can steal someone's abilities. Throughout her time in the Marvel Multiverse, Rogue has borrowed many superpowers. Some of these powers haven't been useful, but no one can deny their original owners are some of the most interesting characters in Marvel comics.

10 Black Widow & Rogue Kissed Once

black widow kisses rogue to transfer her her abilities

While she doesn't have superpowers, Natasha "Black Widow" Romanova is a spy who's been enhanced with biotechnology that makes her body heal faster and age slower. This, in combination with her expertise in martial arts and weaponry, means she can handle herself against any kind of threat.

Instead of Rogue stealing Black Widow's abilities in A+X #2, Natasha kisses Rogue willingly so she can transfer her shooting abilities. It's a bit extra considering she could've just touched her hand, but Rogue doesn't seem to mind. She even compliments Natasha on her kissing skills.

9 Scarlet Witch's Abilities Don't Seem To Work For Rogue

Scarlet Witch is one of Marvel's strongest heroes. She's a master of the mystical arts and can bend reality to her will. Many envy her powers. However, funnily enough, one of the few Marvel characters able to copy her abilities never manages to use them properly.

For instance, in Uncanny Avengers #2, Rogue touches the sorceress during battle, but beyond some red flames in her hands, nothing happens. According to Wanda, this is because Rogue "lacks imagination." Granted, the result of this interaction wasn't as cool as Scarlet Witch herself, but there's still hope that Rogue will manipulate Chaos Magic someday.

8 Iceman & Rogue Are Best Pals

Rogue-Iceman

Bobby Drake, also known as Iceman, has the coolest (literally) powers in the Marvel Multiverse. He's a mutant with cryokinetic abilities, which means he can create and control ice with his own hands. Since Iceman and Rogue are long-time friends, the mutant has absorbed Bobby Drake's powers more than once. Of course, she's always asked for permission first.

As seen in Uncanny Avengers #21, Rogue has used Iceman's powers in battle. She's also used them as a way to rebuild the world, as she did in Avengers vs. X-Men's Act Three. This dynamic is so common between Rogue and Iceman, that even the original trilogy — where they were romantically involved — included it. She manifested Iceman's abilities every time she kissed him.

7 Mystique Is Rogue's Adoptive Mother

Although they're on different sides of the war, Rogue and the shape-shifting villain, Mystique share a complicated relationship that extends beyond the war between mutants. Since Mystique adopted her (together with her partner, Destiny), Rogue cares for her in the same way any daughter cares for their mother (until things go south between them).

Throughout their time as allies and enemies, Rogue has touched Mystique more than once. The first time occurred during a domestic scene in their kitchen in Marvel Fanfare #60. Rogue ambushes her mother and touches her face, and although Mystique scolds her daughter for taking her powers so lightly, the teenager only laughs and explains that she's learning to control them.

6 Psylocke, Wolverine, Colossus, X-23 & Archangel Combined Made Rogue Superpowerful

Rogue with the powers of Psylocke, Wolverine, Colossus, X-23 & Archangel Combined

In order to prepare herself to protect Hope Summer and battle against Bastion in X-Men Legacy #235, Rogue absorbed not one, but five mutants' abilities at once: Psylocke, Wolverine, Colossus, X-23, and Archangel. The result is a new Rogue with Archangel wings, Colossus metallic skin, X-23's claws, and many other abilities.

It was only a matter of time for Rogue to test her luck absorbing many powers at once. Although Bastion still manages to defeat the team, she shows a might level never seen before. Considering how powerful absorbing more than one person at once makes her, it makes sense it doesn't happen often. Otherwise, Rogue would be overpowered.

5 Storm Offered To Help Rogue With Her Powers

Since Mystique adopted her when she was younger, Rogue grew up with the wrong set of values. Far from a hero, she trusted no one until Ororo Munroe (aka Storm) offered a helping hand. Storm is a mutant with the ability to control the weather and all types of natural forces, such as solar wind, ocean currents, and even electromagnetic fields.

In Uncanny X-Men #185, the older mutant lets Rogue absorb her power after the girl explains she's having a hard time controlling her abilities. Both women are training together when Gyrich attacks them, forcing both to lose control of their powers again. Before things get worse, Forge saves them. After this, Rogue becomes closer to Storm.

4 Gambit Lends Rogue His Powers All The Time

Rogue and Gambit kiss

Gambit is a mutant with the ability to create and control kinetic energy, which he uses to infuse things. Since he and Rogue have shared a romantic relationship since the '90s, both mutants have always been physically close, regardless of Rogue's abilities.

Throughout the whole Rogue & Gambit series, Rogue touches Gambit with her bare skin several times. Sometimes she does it to borrow Gambit's kinetic powers, but sometimes it just happens as a result of the physical dimension of their romance. In any case, these abilities come in handy against Lavish: their enemy during this five-issue series.

3 When Absorbing The Hecatomb, Rogue Absorbed 8 Billion Minds

Created by the Shi'ar using Mummudrai as inspiration, the Hecatomb was designed to devour the mind of anyone in its way. Although it was originally controlled by these humanoids, it escaped and became unsatiable after devouring 8 billion minds when it fought against the Heptarchy.

Once Hecatomb arrived on Earth in X-Men #199, the X-Men battled hard against it. Finally, it was Rogue who saved the day, but at a high cost: she absorbed the thousands of minds inside it, which nearly drove her insane.

2 Rogue Took Thor's Place In A What If...? Comic

Rogue with the powers from Thor in What If...?

While Thor is a God, he isn't immune to Rogue's touch. In fact, the mutant has absorbed Thor's powers more than once throughout the Marvel Multiverse. One of the most memorable occurrences was in 1994 on Earth-941066 in What If...? #66, a comic that wondered, "What If Rogue Possessed the Power of Thor?"

In this issue, she battled the God of Thunder alongside the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants and murdered him. However, Thor talked to her in the astral plane. There, he convinced her to become the new Goddess of Thunder as a hero, which she did. Rogue-Thor didn't last long in the Multiverse, but she's without a doubt one of the mightiest characters to exist.

1 Ms. Marvel Practically Died In Rogue's Hands

Rogue first stole Carol Danvers' powers and life force

Before she became Captain Marvel, Carol Danvers was Ms. Marvel: a human-Kree hybrid with superhuman strength, stamina, and durability, as well as the ability to predict attacks from her enemies. Unfortunately, this "seventh sense" failed when she faced Rogue in battle.

Before becoming an X-Men, Rogue was a villainous mutant who used her abilities for evil. In Marvel Super Heroes #11, she held onto Ms. Marvel for too long and completely drained her powers and mind. After this battle, Carol Danvers's body ended up in a coma while her mind fought inside Rogue's body until the Siege Perilous separated them.
