Released last year, Control blended sci-fi and paranormal tropes with third-person action. Now, to commemorate the game's one year anniversary, Remedy Entertainment and 505 Games have announced an Ultimate Edition, which bundles the original game and all of its subsequent expansions.

Control's Ultimate Edition is set for a PC release on the game's one-year anniversary, with home console versions arriving next month. Those that purchase the Ultimate Edition on the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One will have the opportunity to upgrade the game for free on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X when it becomes available on the upcoming next-gen home consoles.

A written statement from the developers on the game's official website clarified that those who purchased the original version of the game will not receive the free upgrade offer; the Ultimate Edition or eventual next-gen versions must be purchased separately. Similarly, the offer for a free upgrade on the PS5 or Xbox Series X is not extended to those that purchase the Ultimate Edition for PC.

Following Federal Bureau of Control (FBC) operative Jesse Faden, Control sees her investigate the disappearance of her younger brother while running into paranormal threats, which she defends herself against using supernatural abilities and weaponry. After its release, Control received two expansions, including a crossover with Remedy's previous acclaimed title Alan Wake.

Developed by Remedy Entertainment and published by 505 Games, Control: Ultimate Edition will be released for PC on Aug. 27 and on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on Sept. 10. A PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X release date has not yet been announced.
