Tweets celebrating the film included one from a fan named Kyle DeNigris, who wrote, "When I tweet #ContinueTheMonsterverse, I mean it wholeheartedly. The Monsterverse is easily my favorite cinematic universe. These films mean so much more to me than any other movie. He continued, "These are the movies I wished I had when I was 7. It's a no-brainer that they need to be renewed." DiNigris added that he'd like to see monsters like Gigan, Baragon and Titanosaurus join the MonsterVerse in future films.

Another fan compared the #ContinueTheMonsterverse campaign to the #RestoreTheSnyderVerse campaign, which launched after Zack Snyder's four-hour-long edit of Justice League debuted on HBO Max. "It's funny seeing #ContinueTheMonsterverse and #RestoreTheSnyderVerse trending," fan Stephen M. Colbert tweeted. "It's never been easier to know what kind of content audiences want, but the most in-demand content has to be campaigned for."

Following a successful opening in China last week, Godzilla vs. Kong surpassed expectations by bringing in an impressive $32.2 million over its three-day opening weekend domestically. Over its first five days of its domestic release, the film brought in $48.5 million. Godzilla vs. Kong also achieved a record-setting opening for IMAX, delivering $4.5 million in ticket sales across 284 screens. While the future of the MonsterVerse is currently unclear, one Godzilla vs. Kong scene, in particular, has fans suggesting that they'd like to see Kong wield a battle-ax for the second time in a prequel film. In the new film, Kong uses the weapon while battling Godzilla in Hong Kong. Some fans believe that the origin of the battle-ax should be explained.

Directed by Adam Wingard and written by Eric Pearson and Max Borenstein, Godzilla vs. Kong stars Alexander Skarsgard, Millie Bobby Brown, Rebecca Hall and Brian Tyree Henry. The film is currently in theaters and on HBO Max now.
