The return of NBC's "Constantine" is going to take a little bit longer than first expected, but the show will take over a new time slot when it returns in the new year.

Announced via the show's Twitter page, the mid-season premiere has been pushed back a week to Friday January 16th, but the show will return with an earlier time slot, moving to 8 p.m. from its previous 10 p.m. spot.

Last Friday's "Constantine" mid-season finale received a 25% ratings boost, up from the previous week, suggesting that NBC is giving the series a chance to find a bigger audience on Friday nights.

While Deadline reported in November that the show would wrap production after 13 episodes, the fate of the series' second season is still undetermined.

"Constantine" stars Matt Ryan, Angelica Celaya, Charles Halford and Harold Perrineau, based on the long-running DC Comics/Vertigo series "Hellblazer."
