Official Press Release
ORANGE, CA -- 12 May, 2004 - With one visit to their local comic shop and two easy purchases, readers now have a way to bring themselves completely up to date with Robert Kirman's acclaimed THE WALKING DEAD, published by Image Comics.
THE WALKING DEAD: DAYS GONE BYE collects the first six issues of the series, by Kirkman and artist Tony Moore, for the special low price of $9.95. At the same time, THE WALKING DEAD #7 kicks off a new story arc featuring new series artist Charles Adlard, with gray tones by Cliff Rathburn.
With back issues regularly selling out, the double dose of DEAD provides a great opportunity for everyone to catch up quickly and easily.
"I really don't want people to have the 'I couldn't find the other issues' excuse." says Kirkman. "Shipping a TPB so quickly after the single issues is sometimes seen as risky but with all the issues sold out (and sold out fast) I wanted to make sure that we could gain more readers by having everything available in one day."
The book, which centers around the experiences of human survivors in a zombie filled, post-apocalyptic Atlanta, continues to see orders increasing steadily each month, amid growing buzz about the book and its creator. Kirkman is slated to handle an upcoming Captain America story arc and numerous other projects for Marvel Comics, in addition to his monthly duties on THE WALKING DEAD and INVINCIBLE, also published by Image Comics.
"It seems as though the rest of the world is finally waking up to the work of Riotous Robert Kirkman and we couldn't be more pleased! For years we've been telling folks that this titanic talent is a star on the rise and it seems folks are getting the message at last," says Image Comics Publisher Erik Larsen. "Each issue of INVINCIBLE and THE WALKING DEAD sell better than the previous ones. THE WALKING DEAD is a bona fide sales phenomena and lackluster imitations from our crafty competitors are popping up like pimples.
"At this point sales on new issues of THE WALKING DEAD are nearly double of those of the first issue and there doesn't seem to be any end in sight. Getting those hard to find early issues back into print was a high priority. Readers demanded it and that's not hyperbole."
THE WALKING DEAD #10 is available for order in the May issue of Previews and will go on sale July 7.
