Amazon Studios has released a new poster for Coming 2 America, which features the full cast.Eddie Murphy's Prince Akeem is shown front and center, sporting a tuxedo and the crown of the fictional royal nation of Zamunda. Other characters include James Earl Jones as Akeem's father King Jaffe Joffer and Wesley Snipes as Akeem's rival, General Izzi. A previous poster featured Akeem in a limo as he makes his return to the United States.
Coming 2 America is the sequel to the 1980s comedy classic Coming to America, which was directed by John Landis and featured Murphy as Akeem. Originally slated to premiere in theaters in 2020, Coming 2 America was ultimately sold by Paramount Pictures to Amazon Studios in the wake of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Paramount has sold other films to Amazon Studios, including the upcoming Chris Pratt sci-fi vehicle The Tomorrow War for a $200 million dollar price tag.
Set in the lush and royal country of Zamunda, newly-crowned King Akeem (Eddie Murphy) and his trusted confidante Semmi (Arsenio Hall) embark on an all-new hilarious adventure that has them traversing the globe from their great African nation to the borough of Queens, New York – where it all began.
Directed by Craig Brewer, Coming 2 America stars Eddie Murphy as Akeem/Randy, Arsenio Hall as Semmi, Jermaine Fowler as Lavelle, Leslie Jones as Lavelle's mother, Tracy Morgan as Reem, James Earl Jones as Jaffe Joffer and Louie Anderson as Maurice. The film arrives on Amazon Prime Video March 5.
