Over at the Marvel camp we get to see Daredevil wind up in over his head and the legend of one of Star Wars’ greatest characters keeps expanding in an interesting and unorthodox ways. And everyone's favorite mutant newlyweds keep

6 Action Comics #1009

By Brian Michael Bendis, Steve Epting, Brad Anderson, and Rob Leigh

BUY IT NOW $3.99

The “Leviathan Rising” story arc keeps rolling along and the intrigue continues to grow. Clark Kent must entrust Amanda Waller and other offbeat allies as he tries to unravel the mystery behind Leviathan in Action Comics #1009.

Brian Michael Bendis yet again flexes his knack for bringing to life intriguing mysteries within hardboiled detective stories, which initially feels a bit out of place in a comic about the Man of Steel, but Lois and Clark are reporters, and good ones at that. Bendis along with artist Steve Epting realize how they can explore the day job skills of Clark Kent and never lose the Superman mystique.

5 Detective Comics #1000

By Various

BUY IT NOW $9.99

Hitting an issue count in quadruple digits is nothing to sneeze at. We recently celebrated Action Comics and Superman for doing so, but now it’s time for the Dark Knight to have his thousandth issue bash, and boy oh boy, it’s quite a doozy.

This 96-page anthology is a who’s who of talent from all corners of the industry. From comic book titans like Jim Lee and Warren Ellis to M.I.A. Batman contributors like Kevin Smith, Detective Comics #1000 is packed cover to cover with greatness. There really isn’t a dud in this issue, but with so much talent on the page, it's hard to image there would be.

4 Dial H for Hero #1

By Sam Humphries, Joe Quiones, and Dave Sharpe

BUY IT NOW $3.99

The Wonder Comics imprint from DC never ceases to amazing. With each new release, readers get something fresh or something they once knew so well presented through a new lens. Dial H for Hero #1 recaptures the childlike wonderment of superheroes many jaded readers have since lost.

With vibrant art from Joe Quinones and a smart, funny script from Sam Humphries, Dial H for Hero #1 is another great new series from DC and Wonder Comics you may really want to consider adding to your pull list. Believe it or not, but this comic somehow out Shazams Shazam!

3 DAREDEVIL #3

By Chip Zdarsky, Marco Checchetto, and Sunny Gho

BUY IT NOW $3.99

Detective Cole and Matt Murdock are two men fighting for the same thing. It’s a common trope in vigilante comics where one person operates to the best of their abilities within the confines of the law and the other does so outside of it. Sometimes this dynamic leads to a whole lot of misunderstanding and may even come to blows.

Chip Zdarsky and Marco Checchetto’s Daredevil #3 continues exploring this theme and even brings a familiar face into the fold to further muddy the already opaque waters. With a fantastic brawl in the back half of the issue, this is another solid installment in a great Daredevil tale.

2 Mr. and Mrs. X #9

By Kelly Thompson, Oscar Bazaldua, Grank D'Armata, VC's Joe Sabino, Terry Dodson, and Rachel Dodson

BUY IT NOW $3.99

Opening with a wonderful scene in which Remy LeBeau displays his prowess as a burglar and ending with a daring rescue mission, Mr. and Mrs. X #9 is a blast from start to finish. This series has always been able to balance romance, comedy, and fun X-Men action which has something for everyone.

Rogue and Gambit are stuck in Mojoverse (the last place anyone wants to be), but they’re not there to play Mojo’s sick games. With the help of some unlikely heroes and villains, comics’ most charming mutant couple have to fight their way out… so much for a proper honeymoon.

1 Star Wars: Vader - Dark Visions #2

By Dennis "Hopeless" Hallum, Brian Level, Jordan Boyd, VC's Joe Caramagna, and Greg Smallwood

BUY IT NOW $3.99

Yes, technically Darth Vader is a mass-murdering monster who struck down a room full of children with a lightsaber and stood by as his own daughter’s home world was completely destroyed, but our love affair with the Sith Lord has never wavered.

If anything, it’s grown to the point where stories only tangentially related to Vader are a source of entertainment. Star Wars: Vader – Dark Visions #2 is a tale of influence the man once known as Anakin Skywalker holds over so many and digs into why Darth Vader is regarded as something of a boogeyman in the Star Wars Universe.
