Creators of comics, film and more have taken to Twitter to remember the late, great Neal Adams.Neal Adams passed away at the age of 80 on April 28. Since then, a number of industry writers, artists and creators have shown their respect for Adams and all that he did over Twitter or other social media platforms. Joe Quesada wrote, "There was a time in the world of comics when giants walked amongst us. A small handful still do, but today we lost one of the greatest. Our hearts go out to Neal's family, and we want them to know that while the void he leaves behind will remain forever unfillable, it will serve as a reminder of all the joy and inspiration his work brought us and an epitaph of how much he changed the face of our industry. Godspeed, Neal."Bryan Hitch noted a "clear line in the sand" he described as a "before Neal" and "an after Neal." He posted in a thread, "Almost all of us, in one way or another, are in a post Neal Adams comic book industry. It's not just that he pretty much reinvented how we all thought about the way comics should look, he was instrumental in fight for creator rights for art returns to royalties. Neal changed the game in possibly more ways than most could try to." Hitch further concluded, "If you've been influenced by almost any comic artist in the last 55 years, chances are Neal is there somewhere either directly or through others from me, to Jim Lee to Alex Ross to countless others. He was a towering figure both creatively in his forceful [personality]." Ross tweeted on his account, "One of the greatest artists in the history of American illustration has passed away. Neal Adams was a seismic influence on how one depicts life. His dynamic interpretation of realism combined with the energy shaped generations of artists. People like me wouldn't be here without him.""What Neil Adams did for the medium and for creators is unparalleled," Scott Snyder posted. "I don't even know where to begin, except to send love and condolences to his family, and thank him again for the immeasurable good he did for comics on every front.""Neil Adams, a towering giant in the world of illustration, comics and creator rights has passed," Tom King said. "He was one of my heroes, I met him, I thanked him, got to know him — and he was truly smart and kind. He drew as well as anyone ever has, and he fought for us. I'm going to miss him."Marvel and DC Twitter accounts posted their own memorials to Adams, as did Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn, professional wrestler CM Punk and countless others.

Adams is survived by his wife of 45 years, Marilyn Adams; sons Josh, Jason and Joel; daughters Kris and Zeea; grandchildren, Kelly, Kortney, Jade, Sebastian, Jane and Jaelyn; and great-grandson Maximus. "It wasn't until I sat at tables at conventions next to the same people I would watch treat my father with such reverence that I understood: He was their father, too,” Josh Adams said in a statement. “Neal Adams’ most undeniable quality was the one I had known about him my entire life: He was a father. Not just my father, but a father to all that would get to know him.”
