Though the youngest child may often be hot-headed and less experienced than their older siblings, they can take care of themselves and others. For younger siblings in comics, being constantly under protection can be frustrating, but heroes like the Human Torch from Marvel Comics or Starfire from DC Comics prove themselves, regardless of their age or their place on their family trees.

Oliver Grayson is the younger half-brother of Mark Grayson from the Invincible series, and the son of Omni-Man. After his mother died due to her Thraxan race's short life span, Oliver was taken in by Debbie Grayson and eventually fought alongside his brother. As Kid Omni-Man, Oliver single-handedly defeated the Mauler Twins.

When Thragg attempted to kill his niece Terra, Oliver interfered and was killed in the process. Oliver's sacrifice had restored the heroic legacy of the Omni-Man name. His growth-rate for his strength may be slower than his brother Mark's, but up until his death, Oliver proved that he was just as invincible.

Zheng Esme is the daughter of the crime lord, Zheng Zu, and one of many younger sisters of Shang-Chi. Esme was raised as a warrior in The House of Deadly Dagger where she fought against some of the strongest fighters and managed to become a noble champion known as Sister Dagger.

Esme rescued Shang-Chi after he was captured by assassins at the New House of Deadly Hand. As Esme saved her older brother, she defeated the group of mercenaries and took down the rest of the society. With her skills with daggers and martial arts, Esme has shown that she can protect herself and those around her.

When learning that Lacroix wasn't her birth father and that he kept her away from her family, Emiko killed him.

After killing Komodo, Emiko sought training from her older brother Oliver Queen, the Green Arrow. Pretending to be a member of The Ninth Circle, Emiko infiltrated the organization despite her mother being loyal to them. Being just as skilled in archery as her older brother, Emiko became the Red Arrow.

Satana Hellstrom and her brother Daimon were raised by their father, an entity of Satan. While Daimon refused their father's evil teachings, Satana embraced her darkness and was raised in Hell. Satana was banished to Earth by a cabal. After learning that her father orchestrated her banishment, Satana no longer wanted his teachings.

When Satana's spiritual bond, Basilisk, freed itself and cursed Doctor Strange, Satana freed Strange of the curse and decided to sever the demonic bond by taking her own life, leaving the Basilisk to die as well. Whether fans see her as a villain or an anti-hero, Satana Hellstrom proved to be just as powerful as Daimon.

When Norman Osborn and Venom invaded their home in Jonathan Hickman, Sean Chen, Lorenzo Ruggiero, and Joh Rauch's Dark Reign: Fantastic Four #4, Valeria used her superior intellect to outsmart the two villains and their H.A.M.M.E.R goons by letting them underestimate her capabilities. Not only did Valeria trick two of the most ruthless supervillains, but she kept them distracted until the Fantastic Four returned.

4 Jennifer Pierce Has Striking Abilities

Jennifer Pierce was raised in a strict home by her father Jefferson Pierce, a.k.a. Black Lightning. Due to the meta gene she inherited from her father, Jennifer's powers manifested at a young age. Her older sister, Anissa, disregarded their father's orders and became a superhero before completing her education. Thanks to Anissa's renegade attitude, Jefferson had stricter rules for Jennifer.

Jennifer's electrical abilities became uncontrollable the more she contained. To help with her struggles, Jefferson turned to the Justice Society of America. As a member of the JSA under the name Lightning, a counterpart of her sister, Thunder, Jennifer used her electricity to help defeat the villain Scythe.

Like his older sister Sue Storm, The Human Torch is a member of the Fantastic Four. As the youngest, hothead of the group, Johnny's commitment and intentions are sometimes questioned by the other members, more so by his overprotective sister.

While Sue and Reed Richards were away on a mission, the portal to the Negative Zone had been breached, and a cult led by Annihilus made their way into the Baxter Building. To close the portal, Johnny torched it, but some invaders survived and captured him. Annihilus asked Johnny to reopen the portal, but Johnny refused and Annihilus killed him. Johnny sacrificed himself to save the world from Annhilus' corruptive invasion, even when he was flying solo without his fantastic teammates.

2 Starfire Overcame Her Sister's Betrayal

Starfire had a longtime beef with her older sister Blackfire. Blackfire was born with a disease that prevents her from harnessing solar energy, leaving her unable to inherit the Tamaranian throne. Since Starfire has the abilities that her older sister lacks, Blackfire loathes her younger sister.

Starfire endured torture after Blackfire captured her, but she eventually stole a ship that led her to Earth. After meeting Robin, Starfire joined the Teen Titans. As a Titan, Starfire helped defeat some of the greatest DC supervillians such as Deathstroke and Trigon. Starfire overcame her sister's torture and used her powers to protect her new home.

As the daughter of the late king T'Chaka and the younger sister of T'Challa, Shuri was destined to become a fierce warrior. Shuri tried to challenge her uncle for the Black Panther mantle, but her older brother beat her to the punch.

Shuri's first heroic moment was when she used the Ebony Blade to kill Radioactive Man after he assisted Klaw in an attack on Wakanda. Not only is Shuri a warrior princess, but she is one of the smartest characters within Marvel Comics. With her advanced knowledge in Wakanda technology, Shuri assists her brother on his missions and used the coolest gadgets during her run as the Black Panther.
