X-MENNews has hit the wire today that Lauren Shuler Donner supposedly confirmed that Channing Tatum has been cast as Gambit in the X-Men franchise. While many news outlets are running with Total Film's video interview as hard confirmation, nothing has been announced yet, and it seems unlikely that Shuler Donner would mention the casting with relatively little fanfare on a red carpet. FANTASTIC FOURWhile speaking with ScreenCrush, "Fantastic Four" writer/producer Simon Kinberg discussed why the film is likely not in the same universe as Fox's X-Men films.

"Well, it's complicated," Kinberg told ScreenCrush. "Because none of the X-Men movies have acknowledged the notion of a sort of superhero team - the Fantastic Four. And the Fantastic Four acquire powers, so for them to live in a world where mutants are prevalent is kind of complicated, because you're like, 'Oh, you're just a mutant.' Like, 'What's so fantastic about you?'"

LUCY"The Fifth Element" director Luc Besson stopped by the CBR Tiki Room at WonderCon 2014 to discuss his upcoming film, "Lucy," which stars Scarlett Johansson as a woman who discovers that she has accessed amazing powers.

"The funny thing is, she has no cape and no mask and she's a normal average girl studying in Taipei," Besson told CBR. "She's a little bit stupid, she's partying too much, she's wondering what to do with her life. She's an average girl, and suddenly, these powers fall in her lap that she's going to have access to 15% of her brain capacity, then 20, then 30 -- and she cannot stop it. It's like dominoes: when you start, you go to 100%. She has all these powers that she never asked for, and the funny thing is we are using 10% of our brain capacity. The dolphin is using 15, and basically Batman is using 17 and Superman, 18. She's going to go to 100, so believe me, she can kick the asses of all these guys."
