BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE

LEGO "Batman V Superman" sets are on the way, as teased by the brick-maker on Twitter.

In a pair of "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" promotional images found by Heroic Hollywood, the destruction of Metropolis at the end of "Man of Steel" gets called out in a defaced mock-up of a Superman poster. The phases "Help Rebuild Our City" and "Superman Destroyed Metropolis" can be seen stamped on the black and white image.

The Batman one, on the other hand, features unusually positive messaging -- a surprise considering that the Dark Knight usually instills fear in everyone from criminals to the innocent. He even has a halo drawn around his Bat-ears.

CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR

JoBlo has posted a new batch of rumors that focus on many members of the film's large ensemble and -- if true -- reveal that "Civil War" will feature many nods to Marvel Cinematic Universe's source material. All of these tidbits -- which come from an unverified and unnamed source -- should be taken with a grain of salt, but we'll go on and throw up a spoiler warning just in case for all of those people wishing to remain in the dark until the official "Civil War" trailers start rolling out. Here's a rundown of what JoBlo has heard:

  • Black Panther will have his own mission in the film, but will be sided with Iron Man -- at least at the beginning.
  • Black Panther will be able to scratch Captain America's shield thanks to his vibranium claws.
  • There will be a Black Panther jet.
  • Hawkeye will sport more purple and a full sleeve, similar to his comic counterpart.
  • Ant-Man will get a modern costume and also grow into the role of Giant-Man; we'll also see Scott Lang riding on one of Hawkeye's arrows.
  • War Machine wil wear a more tank-like suit of armor.
  • Falcon's suit will have grappling hooks and wrist lasers built in.
  • Falcon's bird sidekick Redwing will get an MCU counterpart in the form of a red, birdlike drone.
  • Captain America will finally add chainmail to his costume.

Variety has a report on the merchandising plan that will be used when "Civil War" rolls out into theaters.

"We'll see an extension mixing in new characters with new skills," Paul Gitter, senior VP of licensing for Marvel at Disney Consumer Products, said in a statement. "There will also be a big focus on adult female apparel." Those "new characters" will include War Machine, Falcon, Vision, Black Widow and Black Panther, who will be placed on items including apparel, accessories, footwear, sporting goods, electronics, costumes, party goods, stationery, food, home furnishings, collectibles and an expansion into healthy living and travel.

"The Avengers team is both aspirational and hugely merchandisable, made up of multiple, unique heroes coming together with amazing skills, cool vehicles and a high tech headquarters," Gitter added. "'Captain America: Civil War' not only gives us new storytelling for our favorite superheroes, but also introduces new ones allowing us to expand product lines for kids and fans."

Products from Hasbro, Lego, Funko, Hot Wheels, Rubies, Mad Engine, C-Life, Jay Franco, Global Brand Group, Kellogg's, Hallmark and American Greetings will stores about eight weeks prior to the film's release.

FEAR THE WALKING DEAD

Deadline has reported that Colman Domingo has joined the growing cast of "Fear the Walking Dead" in a recurring role. The announcement states that Domingo will play Strand, who is described as "a smart and sophisticated man with a mysterious past."

THE FLASH

According to TV Line, The CW has put out a casting call for actors to play Wendy -- a "spunky, fun and funny" love interest for Barry that is also intelligent and well versed in science. She is scheduled to debut in the second episode of the show's second season.

Wendy Harris is one of more prominent characters by that name in the DC Comics Universe. Once a teenaged sidekick of the Superfriends, Wendy eventually becomes Proxy, the protege of Barbara Gordon's Oracle. The name Wendy could also be a placeholder for another character like Patty Spivot; in New 52 continuity, Patty -- a lab assistant for Central City Police Department -- is a romantic interest for Barry.

MARVEL

A week after action star Jason Statham criticized the Marvel films for their abundant use of greenscreen, Vulture got a reaction to those comments from the Hulk himself, Mark Ruffalo. When asked if he was as tough as Statham, Ruffalo joked, "I mean, do you really need to ask that question? It's Jason Statham. He's like a featherweight. He's got nothing on me! Clearly."

When it comes to SDCC presence, Heroic Hollywood has heard a rumor from unnamed sources that Marvel's absence from the mega-convention is because they got wind of DC's massive presentation -- and decided they couldn't compete with potential updates on "Batman V Superman," "Suicide Squad," "Justice League" and "Wonder Woman." The site states that no "Civil War" footage is ready to be screened, which seems like a stretch since the film has been shooting for a month already and Marvel has rushed to complete footage for SDCC in the past. It's likely that Disney wants to hold off on any big announcements for their D23 expo in August -- although Heroic Hollywood counters that possibility by stating that "Star Wars" still has a presence at SDCC despite being a Disney property.

SUICIDE SQUAD

Just Jared has posted photos of Leto walking around the "Suicide Squad" set while wearing a robe to cover his full Clown Prince of Crime regalia.
