GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY

Kevin Feige spoke with IGN about the possibility of a Guardians of the Galaxy/Avengers team up someday down the line.

"I don't know. Part of the fun of the comics is that could happen," Feige told IGN. "Any character could interact with any other character because they inhabit the same time period and the same universe. And certainly it is the inclusion of Thanos most specifically that is a declaration to audiences who are paying attention that this is connected to those other universes. Part of the fun is that it could happen someday. I don't know when that would be. Or maybe I know and I'm not going to tell you!"

AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRONScarlett Johansson spoke with IGN about building up and evolving the Black Widow in "Avengers: Age of Ultron," as well as the complexity of the character.

"Of course in 'Avengers 2,' it's very much a continuation, a maturation, of this universe, of this reality," Johansson told IGN. "It's not a sequel in the sense that it feels like a rehash. 'Hey, remember this old thing you loved in the first one? There's even more in the second!' It's nothing like that. Joss has lived with these characters now for a couple of years, and he is, as you can imagine, obsessed and tirelessly worked to help these characters evolve. Of course, I'm very fortunate that Joss has an affection for female characters in the work that he writes, and an understanding of them. To me, the Widow is a part of Joss. It really is. I think about Joss, I think about him being part Hulk and part Widow. [Laughs] I don't know if he would agree with that, but I've really thought a lot about, 'What is Joss?' He's all of his characters, of course, like every great writer. At this stage, when you see the Widow, she's -- especially in Avengers, these characters all have a past, and hers is a very complex one, where she's realizing -- and it's kind of a continuation of 'Cap 2' -- 'I've never made an active choice. I'm a product of other people's imposition.' That's going to catch up with her. That's bound to have a huge effect. There's got to be a result of that realization. I think that in 'Avengers 2' you'll see that. You'll see her actively making some choices in her life, for better or worse. You know, when she splashes, the wave is big -- all these characters have that effect. So it'll be interesting to see what the audience thinks of what kind of wave we're sending their way."

EW.com spoke with Joss Whedon and Robert Downey Jr. about the Vision in the upcoming film, and while Whedon was pretty cagey about answering questions about Paul Bettany (the voice of JARVIS) playing the character ("It's not coincidence," he told EW. "And I'm not going to tell you any more about The Vision."), Robert Downey Jr. was a little more verbose about the concept.

"Things only happen arbitrarily in Kevin Feige's Marvel universe by mistake, and I think he's maybe made two mistakes and they weren't really in the movies," said Downey Jr. "They were more in like the Easter eggs early on. Things that he didn't have as much final say over but would nowadays.

"It's like if you think about the five different ways that [The Vision] could come together, this one's definitely the most interesting of the five," he continued. "I was running other scenarios and I've seen it progress over drafts. It was just kind of really good, right from the start."

ANT-MANThe Guardian spoke with Feige about a subject that hasn't come up very much in published interviews -- the specific reasons that Edgar Wright and Marvel decided to part ways over "Ant-Man."

"We sat round a table and we realised it was not working," Feige told The Guardian. "A part of me wishes we could have figured that out in the eight years we were working on it. But better for us and for Edgar that we figure it out then, and not move it through production.

"We said let's do this together and put out a statement. What do we say? 'Creative differences'. I said: 'That's what they always say and no-one ever believes it.' Edgar said: 'But in this case it's true ... '

"The Marvel movies are very collaborative, and I think they are more collaborative than what he had been used to. And I totally respect that," he continued. "[But] the notion that Marvel was scared, the vision was too good, too far out for Marvel is not true. And I don't want to talk too much about that because I think our movies speak to that. Go look at 'Iron Man 3'; go look at 'The Winter Soldier'; go see 'Guardians of the Galaxy' later this month. It would have to be really out there to be too out there for us."
