COMIC REEL: Ben McKenzie comes to "Gotham"; Chris Pratt sure he would be in "Guardians of the Galaxy"

In case you missed it over the weekend, "Gotham" now has its Jim Gordon in the form of "The O.C." veteran Ben McKenzie. As we reported here at CBR, the series will "depict Gordon as rookie on the Gotham City Police Department's homicide squad, a former college-football star and a war hero." The program, which will also feature a young Bruce Wayne taking his first steps toward the cape and cowl, has a series commitment, so you will be seeing McKenzie as a thoroughly modern Gordon soon.

Comic Book Therapy translated a few comments from director Zack Snyder to French Magazine Popcorn. Of particular interest is his mention of new Batman Ben Affleck. "Ben brings an interesting counterweight to the performance of Henry in the role of Superman ... He has the experience necessary to paint the picture of an older and more advised man than Clark Kent, who bears the scars of a seasoned vigilante while retaining the charm that Bruce Wayne deploys when present in the world," says the director. Funny though, has Bruce Wayne been charming since Adam West gave up the role?

While speaking with Collider, director Jaume Collet-Serra told the site,"I'm focusing on 'Akira.'" He was working on the project a few years ago until the whole thing crumbled under a projected $90 million budget. The director claims Warner Bros. is interested in finally making the film and he "hopes" to make his next project. I've always thought this was one of the riskier properties around town and it'll be interesting to see if it comes together this time.

AMC posted a tease of next week's new episode:
