Upon hearing about the passing of Denny O'Neil, many in the comics industry took to social media to share memories of the veteran comics writer.Writers, artists, editors and publishers began paying their condolences after it was announced the legendary writer had passed away from natural causes at the age of 81. "RIP Denny O’ Neil—one of visionary architects of DC Comics who helped revive Batman in the 1970s and remains my favorite Green Lantern writer to date," current DC Publisher and President Jim Lee wrote. "Through his editing and writing, Denny was one of the earliest writers whose work and focus on social issues pushed comics."

Valiant Comics retweeted the news of O'Neil's passing, writing, "The Valiant family is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of the legendary Denny O'Neil. Our thoughts are with his loved ones."

Batman: Last Knight on Earth artist Greg Capullo wrote, "R.I.P. Master Denny O’Neil. Thank you for everything that you gave us," while Batman/Catwoman writer Tom King shared a picture and added, "Denny O’Neil made timeless comics by making comics about his time. The revolutions of the 60s, the excesses of the 70s, the corruption of the 80s, the facades of the 90s—he used superhero tropes as brushstrokes to paint a picture of who we are and who we could be. RIP."
