Every week, I will be sharing with you three comic book "easter eggs." An easter egg is a joke/visual gag/in-joke that a comic book creator (typically the artist) has hidden in the pages of the comic for readers to find (just like an easter egg). Reader KNuff pointed out this neat bit in X-23: Target X #2 (written by Craig Kyle and Chris Yost and drawn by Mike Choi and Sonia Oback) where the hosts of Mythbusters, Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage, are depicted as X-23's teachers in high school...

Peter Bergman, one of the founders of the comedy troupe the Firesign Theatre, passed away on March 10th. In honor of his passing, reader Erich M. suggested I feature a Firesign Theatre reference by Peter Gillis in his mid-80's Eternal mini-series, where Thena of the Eternals goes undercover and uses as a fake name a name so similar to a name from a Firesign Theatre that it almost certainly is an intentional reference. The character in the Firesign Theatre bit is Betty Jo Bialovsky and the character in the bit is Betty Sue Bialovsky...

Finally, reader Terry B. pointed out this neat bit in the 1988 Punisher graphic novel The Punisher - Assassin's Guild, written by Jo Duffy and drawn by Jorge Zaffino.

The bad guys Punisher kills here are based on the famed manga series Lupin III, by Monkey Punch (Kazuhiko Kato) (which amusingly enough, just recently celebrated its 40th anniversary)....
