In this feature, I share with you comic book "easter eggs." An easter egg is a joke/visual gag/in-joke that a comic book creator (typically the artist) has hidden in the pages of the comic for readers to find (just like an easter egg). They range from the not-so-obscure to the really obscure. So come check 'em all out and enjoy! Also, click here for an archive of all the easter eggs featured so far! If you want to suggest an easter egg for a future column, e-mail me at bcronin@comicbookresources.com (do not post your suggestion in the comments section!).

Today, in honor of Star Wars Day, I figured I'd collect all of our past Star Wars editions of Comic Book Easter Eggs into one massive post!

First up, based on a suggestion from Ethan Shuster, Terry Dodson sneaks Captain Kirk, Mr. Spock and Dr. McCoy into this crowd scene alongside Luke Skywalker in Dark Force Rising #3...

Next, reader Philip reminded me of a neat bit in Star Wars #16, written by Archie Goodwin. As I noted in Comic Book Legends Revealed, the character Jaxxon (based on Bugs Bunny) was jettisoned from the Star Wars comics because George Lucas didn't like the character. That was pretty much it for Jaxxon, however, he made one last appearance in #16 where Goodwin has him be captured by, in effect, Daffy Duck and Elmer Fudd!

Ed D. pointed out a pair of tributes to the great Anime creator Leiji Matsumoto by Jo Duffy during her Star Wars run.

In Matsumoto's Space Battleship Yamato (also known as Star Blazers), there is a planet Gamilon and a planet Iskandar.

Well, in Star Wars #74, Duffy introduces us to planets Iskalon and Gamandar...

In addition, in Star Wars #79, Lando Calrissian is undercover as "Captain Drebble" (art by Ron Frenz and Tom Palmer, who were quite a good pairing back in the 1980s).

He is clearly modeled on Matsumoto's character, Space Pirate Captain Harlock...

Reader Ganky suggested I feature Uncanny X-Men #245, by Chris Claremont, Rob Liefeld and Dan Green, that was a parody of DC's then-current Invasion! crossover. You see, as part of Invasion!, the aliens invading the DC Earth invaded Australia. The X-Men happened to be headquartered in Australia at this point in time, so Claremont had some fun with the idea of aliens invading Australia and encountering the X-Men.

In the collection of aliens, Liefeld snuck in some Star Wars aliens (plus some other movie aliens)...

Josh A. pointed out this cute bit from The Boys #23, by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson.

There is a chart of all the G-Men (a parody of the X-Men) in the issue. Like the X-Men, there are a TON of G-Men. So the chart is gigantic.

Well, on one of the panels, we see that there are so many G-Men that Boba Fett is even one of them...

Cute!

One of the most suggested Easter Egg I've had is this bit by Jim Starlin in Dreadstar #12, where four of Dreadstar's rebel comrades (Willow, Oedi, Syzygy and Skeevo) decide to use a spell to disguise themselves so as to avoid detection. Their choice of disguise is quite humorous...

This one was suggested by Darren R. (who also supplied the scan I'm using), Nick Marino and Lee S.

Next we take a look at Jonathan Hickman, Jimmy Cheung and Mark Morales' Infinity #1, which featured first Luke Skywalker on Galador...

and then Darth Vader with Thanos' men...

Go to the next page for more Star Wars Easter Eggs!

Next, as suggested by Brannigan C., we have Punisher #17, where Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson have Wolverine and the Punisher besieged by an army of little people (I'll be addressing Punisher #16-17 at some other point in another column). Mixed among the little people is an Ewok...

Here are two details of the Ewok in the first panel...

and the second...

Next is Uncanny X-Men #155 by Chris Claremont, Dave Cockrum and Bob Wiacek (suggested by Jay Shepard from rebelscum.com), as Kitty Pryde uses a Shi'ar clothing gizmo to make an amusing outfit...

Next up, from Strong Guy Reborn #1 by Todd DeZago, Andy Smith and Art Thibert (as suggested by Rollo Tomassi), we see Strong Guy and Lila Cheney escape at the end of the issue in the Millennium Falcon...

Next up, from Simpsons Comics #137 by Chuck Dixon, John Costanza and Phyllis Nixon, we see Homer deal with stress over his weight during his dreams and a certain furry friend of Han Solo's makes an appearance...

Here, from Sleepwalker #10 by Bob Budiansky, Bret Blevins and Mike Manley, we enter the mind of Rick Sheridan and see how Star Wars (and Superman) had a major impact on Rick deciding to become a superhero...

We'l close it out with easter eggs from issues of Star Wars Tales...

Writer Kevin Rubio and Artist Lucas Marangon had a clever story in Star Wars Tales #7 that parodied the diner sequence in Pulp Fiction with Mace Windu and Yoda at a diner. The whole story had various characters eating at the restaurant in the background, but this splash page when the criminals (who don't know what they've gotten themselves into by robbing this particular restaurant) burst in is probably the best, as it has George Lucas, the Beatles (from Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band) and Buzz Lightyear, among many other folks!

Very cute.

In Star Wars Tales #3, in a story written by Rich Handley and Darko Macan and drawn by Chris Brunner, we see another Dark Horse character in a background panel as Hellboy sneaks into the story...

Finally, in Star Wars Tales #6, in a story by Mark Evanier and Sergio Aragones, C-3PO ends up at a junkyard (he thinks R2-D2 is there - he is not). However, a cantankerous robot from Futurama HAS ended up there. See if you can find him!

And if you don't know what robot I'm talking about....well, then the bit really isn't going to interest you, now is it?

May the Fourth be with you all!
