First Second Books' Vampire Month is over, and now our Comic Book Alphabet of Vampires is, too!

Here is another nice manga vampire (they have a lot of vampires!).

Enjoy!

Zero Kiryu

Zero Kiryu is one of the main characters of Vampire Knight (he is the guy on the left), a manga by Matsuri Hino that has a very clever premise.

The Cross Academy is the setting of the comic, and it is a school where the people behind it feel that it is unfair for vampires not to get the same education as humans, so the school has two classes - a Day Class of humans and a Night Class of vampires.

The stars of the comic, Yuki Cross and Zero Kiryu, are guardians - they keep the Night Class from hurting the Day Class and they keep the Day Class from finding out that the Night Class ARE vampires.

Yuki is a young pureblood vampire who thinks she is a human. She was saved as a young girl by Kaname Kuran, the other main character of the series, who is also a pureblood.

Zero's family were killed by vampires, so he wants to hunt them down and kill them, bu he learns that he, too, is a vampire!! He was bitten years earlier and is now a rare form of vampire - a vampire that was once human.

In the Vampire Knight universe, most vampires are just the children of other vampires. Pureblood vampires are the only ones who can turn humans into vampires, so there are not many human turned vampires. A main problem with humans turned into vampires is that they almost always eventually go insane, as humans cannot deal with becoming vampires.

The comic is mostly a love triangle between Yuki, Zero and Kaname. If Yuki is Kate, then Zero is Sawyer and Kaname is Jack.

Kaname does not like Zero, but he admires his spirt and understands that Zero would do anything to protect Yuki, which Kaname respects.

It's really quite a cute series.

Okay, folks, that's it for the Comic Book Alphabet of Vampires! Hope you had fun!!
