Collectible Marvel Comic to Ship With “Blade: Trinity” DVD

Official Press Release

LOS ANGELES, CA (February 14, 2005) – Blade confronts his ultimate enemy as he fights to save humanity in Blade: Trinity, the action-packed conclusion to the global smash-hit vampire trilogy. Available on April 26, 2005, as a double-disc, Platinum Series™ DVD from New Line Home Entertainment, Blade: Trinity stars Wesley Snipes (Blade II, White Men Can’t Jump) as the deadly Daywalker, Blade, who is joined in his quest by Jessica Biel (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, TV’s 7th Heaven) and Ryan Reynolds (National Lampoon’s Van Wilder, TV’s Two Guys and a Girl). Unrated and R-rated DVDs are available, both dripping with special features, including a sixteen-part behind-the-scenes documentary. The Unrated edition includes 10 minutes of never-before-seen footage, as well as commentaries from the director, cast and crew.

A collectible, limited edition Marvel comic book – created specifically for the DVD release – is available in-pack with both Unrated and R-rated editions of Blade: Trinity, while supplies last. The Blade: Trinity Platinum Series™ DVDs will be available at a $29.95 SRP.

Also available on April 26th is the Blade Trilogy Platinum Series™ box set, containing a five DVD collection of the three films with exclusive box art featuring Blade star Wesley Snipes. The box set will be marked at a $71.98 SRP and includes the Unrated edition of Blade: Trinity.

“Blade is a wildly popular and enduring franchise that concludes with the explosive action of Blade: Trinity,” said Justine Brody, vice president of marketing, New Line Home Entertainment. “In-depth special features and an exclusive, limited edition Marvel comic book make Blade: Trinity the must-have DVD title for fans everywhere.”

Marvel Comics’ exclusive, limited edition comic book Blade: Nightstalking reveals the never-before-seen backstory of Abigail Whistler as she meets her father for the first time and rescues Hannibal King from the vampires. A select 12,500 copies of this all-new, 28-page comic book adventure will feature pre-printed artist signatures from award-winning writer Jimmy Palmiotti, writer Justin Gray and penciler Amanda Conner.

In Blade: Trinity, the trio of vampire hunters (Snipes, Biel and Reynolds) is joined by a diverse supporting cast, including WWE professional wrestler Triple H, Kris Kristofferson (Blade II, Planet of the Apes), Parker Posey (Personal Velocity, Best in Show), Natasha Lyonne (American Pie, Slums of Beverly Hills) and Dominic Purcell (Mission: Impossible II, Equilibrium).

Wesley Snipes returns as the day-walking vampire hunter in the explosive third and final film of the Blade franchise, Blade: Trinity. For years, Blade has fought against the vampires in the cover of night, with the world above unaware of the brutal ongoing war. But now, after falling into the crosshairs of the FBI, he is forced out into the daylight, where he is driven to join forces with a clan of human vampire hunters he never knew existed – the Nightstalkers. Together with Abigail (Jessica Biel) and Hannibal (Ryan Reynolds), two deftly trained Nightstalkers, Blade follows a trail of blood to the ancient creature that is also hunting him … the original vampire, Dracula. Blade: Trinity is written and directed by David S. Goyer, who has written all three films in the trilogy, based on characters created for the comic book.
