Colin Farrell has signed on to play a wizard named Graves in the "Harry Potter" spinoff "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) meets Graves during his travels in New York. Farrell joins a growing cast that includes Katherine Waterston, Ezra Miller, Dan Fogler and Alison Sudol.

Taking place about seventy years before the events of the Harry Potter saga, “Fantastic Beasts” takes place in New York City and follows Scamander, the author of the eponymous Hogwarts textbook, as he studies and documents the magical creatures of the world.

Direct by David Yates and penned by "Harry Potter" scribe J.K. Rowling, “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” arrives in theaters November 18, 2016.
