After an epic meme that called for everyone from Kermit and Fozzie to Oprah and Gayle to be the new stars of #TrueDetectiveSeason2, the actual second season of HBO's breakout anthology has apparently found one of its new leads in Colin Farrell.

The Irish actor gave an interview to the Sunday World in which he confirms his involvement and saying, "I know it will be eight episodes and take around four or five months to shoot. I know very little about it, but we're shooting in the environs of Los Angeles, which is great. It means I get to stay at home and see the kids."

That's as close as fans have come to any official information about writer/creator Nick Pizzolatto's next season. Gawker has a roundup of rumors that includes the tidbit that Season 2 will likely cast three lead parts rather than two as well as speculation that actors Elisabeth Moss, Rachel McAdams, Vince Vaughn and Taylor Kitsch are all possibly connected. Earlier this month saw a report that Fast and the Furious franchise director Justin Lin was in talks to helm part of the new season in place of Emmy winner Cary Fukunaga.

Beyond that, very little is known about the next phase of True Detective, but the new season is slated to arrive next year on HBO.
