An online petition asking Netflix to adapt The Amory Wars comics from Coheed and Cambria frontman Claudio Sanchez is gaining momentum.

At the time of writing, the petition -- which seeks 25,000 signatures -- has racked up over 16,000 on Change.org. It asks fans to petition Netflix to turn the story into "a movie, series or miniseries," undoubtedly buoyed by the success the streaming service has seen with comic adaptations such as The Umbrella Academy, The End of the Fucking World and of course, various Marvel Comics properties -- not to mention that it has also purchased Mark Millar's Millarworld.

Created by Sanchez and illustrated by a bevy of artists, most recently including Rags Morales, The Amory Wars revolves around a cosmic adventure set in Heaven's Fence, a collection of 78 planets held in place by interconnecting beams of energy known as the Keywork. These books were written to tie into all of Coheed and Cambria's music, including The Second Stage Turbine Blade, In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3 and the Good Apollo albums.

The first part of the story focused on Coheed Kilgannon and Cambria Kilgannon's fight against Wilhelm Ryan, the villainous Archmage. The second half would deal with their son and galactic messiah Claudio, who sought to avenge his family.

The comics were initially published by Sanchez's Evil Ink Comics, before the franchise subsequently found new homes at Image Comics and then BOOM! Studios. This story was once set to be adapted with Mark Wahlberg as producer in 2012, but -- with that falling through and rights to the property free once more -- the petition aims to reignite interest.
