Code Geass is one of Sunrise's most popular anime series. While the series is popular for a number of reasons, one of the biggest is definitely that Sunrise went all the way off in terms of their mecha designs. The robots in Code Geass look amazing even when they're more realistic – but as the specialized suits made their appearance, the show only became more popular.
Over the series, some pretty powerful frames were introduced that were capable of taking down entire armies on their own. Of course, no mecha is worth anything without a great pilot, which is why Code Geass had incredible mecha pilots that proved they were capable of impossible tasks.
10 Galahad ( Pilot: Bismarck Waldstein)
Developed from the Gawain, the Galahad frame is piloted by Bismarck Waldstein, the Knight of One. This was meant to belong to the most powerful Knight of the Britannian army, which means it was designed to be one of the most powerful Knightmare frames. It’s got finger-mounted Slash Harkens, and comes with a giant vibration sword known as the Excalibur. The Excalibur is such a talented weapon, it’s capable of slicing through pure energy beams – overwhelmingly power until it’s defeated by Suzaku and the Lancelot Albion.
9 Tristan Divider (Pilot: Gino Weinberg)
The improved version of the Tristan and Galahad Knightmare frames, this relied on an Air Glide system, and had the ability to transform into flight-capable fortress mode. Tristan Divider possessed twin vibration swords for use in combat, and seemed to focus mostly on close combat weaponry besides some machine guns it could only access in Fortress Mode. This suit belonged to Gino Weinberg, who was the Knight of Three, and it was powerful enough to defeat Lelouch’s Shinkiro... but it still got wrecked by Suzaku’s Lancelot Albion.
8 Shen Hu (Pilot: Li Xingke)
Shen Hu is incredibly powerful, but it’s so powerful that piloting it is incredibly demanding, to the extent that people are rarely using it to its full abilities. Still, it possesses an incredible chest cannon that can shatter Blaze Luminous shield systems and made the Guren Flight Version’s radiant wave arm. The Knightmare is piloted by Li Xingke, which proves his talent in combat, and it’s shown that the Shen Hu can dispatch multiple mobile suits at the same time with its weaponry.
7 Shinkiro (Pilot: Lelouch Vi Britannia)
Lelouch’s own personal mecha, the Shinkiro, was able to both fly and move underwater, allowing for mobility that was largely unknown for older Knightmares. What makes the Shinkiro so impressive is its powerful Druid System, which allows the user to figure out the trajectory of any projectiles attacking and shift its energy shields to protect the suit.
However, it takes a relative genius to understand how to use the Shinkiro. This is why it was perfect for Lelouch, but was largely useless in the hands of Rolo. It’s also got some powerful cannons both on its arms and within the chest, meaning it’s well capable of attacking as well as defending itself.
6 Lancelot Albion (Pilot: Suzaku Kururugi)
An improved version of the Lancelot Conquista, this suit was meant to be on the level of the Guren SEITEN Eight Elements. It relied on the Blaze Luminous and Energy Wing systems that basically gave it the ability to shield itself and attack opponents by relying on pure energy. The Lancelot Albion is piloted by Suzaku, and allows him to make short work of several members of the Knights of the Round, defeating the Zangetsu without actually requiring much effort from him. The suit stalemated with Kallen’s Guren, however.
5 Mahoroba Type-01 (Pilot: Lelouch Vi Britannia)
This mecha was introduced during the recent Code Geass: Lelouch of the Resurrection film. It was meant to be an improved version of Lelouch’s Shinkiro mecha, and was designed specifically for “Zero”. This was meant to be something that could be more inspiring compared to Lelouch’s Shinkiro, but it still seems to possess wire-guided slash harkens and a shield system, even if it doesn’t seem to be as impressive. This suit wound up being used for Lelouch when he went to rescue Nunnally.
4 Guren SEITEN (Pilot: Kallen Kozuki)
The Guren S.E.I.T.E.N. Eight Elements is designed to be an upgraded version of Kallen’s Guren Flight-Enabled Version. This suit was described as the most powerful suit in the regular series, relying on its Energy Wing as long and short range weaponry, while also using it as a shield as well.
What makes it even more impressive is its high level of speed, something that only experienced pilots like Kallen can even manage to use properly. It’s been described as a Knightmare that could destroy Knightmares below its level by only using sixty percent of its full power.
3 Lancelot SiN (Pilot: Suzaku Kururugi)
The next level of the Lancelot, this was specifically designed to make the suit one of the most powerful mecha in the universe again. It maintained some of the older weapons like the Super VARIS cannon which, capable of firing both lasers and bullets, but it gained something new as well in the form of the Frame Coat, a tactical module the Lancelot could merge with to form the Lancelot siN White Fang.
2 Guren Type Special (Pilot: Kallen Kozuki)
The upgraded version of Kallen’s Guren SEITEN Eight Elements, this suit maintains all of the best parts of the previous version of the Guren, though it also consumes a bit more energy than the previous models. Like the older model, it relies on the Energy Wings for attack and defense, but it can also fire off Radiation Waves and use a Radiation barrier for defense. The Guren-Type Special gets a Frame Coat much like the Lancelot siN. Kallen mostly manages to wipe out other Knightmares with this, until she gets stuck fighting a Knight Giga Fortress and its overwhelming weaponry.
1 Nagid Shu Mane (Pilot: Shallio)
A more powerful Knightmare frame than had been seen before, this suit had a Float System built into its body that allowed it to maneuver in mid-air better than any suit introduced in the series before. It also possesses a pair of shields on its shoulders which are used as Slash Harkens, along with the typical Blaze Luminous energy shield ability. But what truly sets it apart is the Megistos Omega power, which allows it to move at even higher speeds than normal, leaving after images in its wake like Trans-Am mode from Gundam 00. This suit was used by the king of Zilkhstan, Shalio, and gave Lancelot siN a pretty even fight for a large part of the Lelouch of the Resurrection film.
